What Does Your Handle Mean to You?

For me, my internet handle (nickname, avatar, whatever) is almost as personal as my real name. If I can't sign up to a service with my handle, I almost invariably forget about it for lack of interest in something that doesn't carry my brand.

Does anyone else feel this way about it, or is yours as fluid as water off a ducks back?

I have a completely different username in a couple of different forums that I frequent. My reason for selecting this one here was that it was accurate....as in I am far from a computer expert.

Mine just comes from an email address that I started many years go. Fortunately, it's usually available and I use it for most sites that I go to. Just makes it easy to remember and people sometimes find me in multiple forums.

I used to feel this way, I know how you are thinking. I wish I had started out my internet life differently. I signed up for all major services and sites with a terrible user name and went for years like that until I switched to nate42nd. This user name has great meaning to me, but I would use another if it was taken.
