What don't you like about Windows 7?

can someone who uses windows 7 answer if there is a way around this? i haven't used windows 7 yet, but i have a excel document that i like to keep in vista's quicklaunch. if i install windows 7, i don't want to have to click on it and then scroll up to something else. i'm trying to decide if i should stick with vista or not.
Quick Lanuch is not enabled in Windows 7 but there are some things you can do...

1) Pin the Excel icon to the Superbar and pin the workbook on the excel icon. YOu can right click the excel icon and choose the workbook that way
2) You can make a dummy look-alike Quick Lanuch: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/888-quick-launch-enable-disable.html...that might be more to your fancy

If this is all that holds you back from 7...than welcome to Windows 7 sense their is no reason to stick with Vista now

what about this? would this work?

I believe there is something wrong with your link...

It seems to me that it would work without a hitch...though enabling the Quick Launch might be better for you...

At least you know alternatives are out there!

i think i'd be ok with the default way windows 7's taskbar works for most things, but i would like the ability to also pin shortcuts to documents that open with one click (vista quicklaunch style). imo, microsoft should allow us to mix both of these methods in the taskbar.

Their pushing Jumplists...which is really a nice way to do things (avid user of them myself) but I understand their not for everyone...at least you know that you can pin the documents to the bar at the bottom with no issue

Quick launch by its definition must be quick, right clicking an icon and then having to scroll to the top of a list is far from it . MS should have not pushed this on us. As with the stupid start menu it should have run parallel as an option as per vista and xp. In the case of jump lists it could have been another toolbar so you could have used either or both.

I cannot find a working link anywhere as to how to re enable or botch the quick launch?

any ideas please ?

Many Thanks :)

Keep up the good work

Now that i have got the Media Center background changed, there's nothing wrong with windows 7! :D

Was going to tell you all about this awsome tip concerning the Jumplist, but atlas its no longer there in the RTM. Goes like this, left-click on the icon but hold it down, pushing the cursor up pushes the Jumplist up in sync. Now if you moved your mouse all the way to the top (off the Jumplist) while still holding the left mouse button down, you could then make a select in the Jumplist releasing the left button would open that selection.

However, it no longer appears to work in RTM. You can still push the Jumplist out but you cannot make a selection.

So far i dont like what they have done to:

  • Windows Media Player
  • The Control Panel
  • And Games Explorer
Apart from that everything else i dont like has been changeable, like making the taskbar a normal size with icons displaying text next to them etc. 7 is quite good and if they would just fix the above items id be well chuffed :D

They took out Windows Calendar after i was used to it and used it for all my reminders. Now i don't know what to use for windows 7. Other than that, i love it so far. Definitely a bit much faster.

I can't believe people still are sqabbling about Windows 7 :p

There's nothing wrong with it, WMP12 IMO is a quality app (much better than 11) and the control panel is nice & navigable. The games explorer is cool once it detects all your games ;)

I really dont like what they have done to windows media player and feel as though il go back to winamp because of it, but if you like it then lucky you ;) The control panel is ugly as sin if you ask me but anyway how do you get games explorer to detect all your games as so far it only detects 3 of mine and they removed the customize option on the right click menu making games explorer c***
