My dogs got fleas.
it kinda crashes alot good earth is one that always freezes and stops responding for about 15 seconds other also but off the top of my head i cant pic them out

and i wish a part a vista was in 7 i liked the angled (see what is open) option from the taskbar

and it wont talk to older Os's  i have windows 7 desktop and windows Xp desktops 1 as my personal file server windows 98SE and windows 3.11/dos 6.22

windows 7/vista programs should have a thing that windows auto senses and installs if it doesn't auto sense it it should install as xp compatible i use photo shop CS2 which would always crash till i set it to run as XP SP 2 or 3

and i really hate that i have a bunch of hardware that is not garbage even though its still good like SB lives

one thing id like to see windows get is more desktops like Linux has they give you 4 on you task bar

and Microsoft have to get on the ball they need to do 64 bit for all updates not 32 and 64 like windows live i go to stitch photos together to make a panorama and it falls cuz it runs out of memory

ohh and the lack of control over start bar id like to see a Linux type were you can say run at 70% so it shortens the task bar to it doesn't take up whole with of screen

last (i think) but not least windows need to fix CPU sensing org clock 333x8.5 i have it set 400x8.0 and windows says i have 3.4 when i have 3.2

A BAD THING Windows Search. Within an hour of first switching on my new Win 7 PC, I'd downloaded another search program (Locate32) and turned off Windows Search and Indexing never to be seen again  .

My complaints are few, but they are actually giving me pause today. I used, happily, XP Pro until about six months ago, when I installed Win 7 Pro. I'm impressed with the OS so far, and haven't had too much to complain about, until now.

With XP Pro, I was able to set up multiple languages through the language bar, with no issues. I'm now faced with having to buy a far more expensive OS version to do the same thing I was able to do natively in XP, and frankly I'm now considering my options.

I have a Laptop with the dreaded Vista on it. I need to have multiple language support on that thing, and NEED to rid it of Vista. I'm now considering going BACKWARDS to XP, or even moving on to a MAC, simply due to Microsoft's inexplicable management of language support.

In today's global environment, multiple language support is becoming less and less of a luxury, and more of a necessity. This really has me irritated, and I'm simply not going to pay for Win 7 ultimate for ONLY MUI.

Am I alone in this?

When I had RC, I had nothing but problems - slow, glitches, incompatibilities, etc. When RTM was released on Technet, I tried 7 again. Its allot better than RC in terms of compatibilities, stability, speed.

Now, my only compliants are related to x64 and legacy x16 programs.

Oddjob, welcome to the Seven Forums.

If you want to change your Windows completely to another language, you need to install a language pack. Language packs are optional, free updates to Ultimate and Enterprise editions. This post of mine from earlier today tells you more.

If you just want to use another input language, go to Control Panel > Region and language, click Keyboards and Languages tab and install any keyboard layout you need. Just click the Add button and choose layouts you need:

langbar5.png

After that, you have the language button on Windows Taskbar. Clicking the language button let's you choose input language or open the language bar:

langbar6.png langbar9.png

Input language can be changed in all Windows 7 editions. A more extensive tutorial on this subject is here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/86204-keyboard-input-language-add-remove.html.

Notice: if you want to use non-latin based input languages, you need a so called IME layout. Read these posts to learn more about IME layouts and installing them:

Well! Now I feel like a noob! Thank you for that, and I will be ridding myself of that wretched Vista on the laptop. I was stuck on the MUI, when I really didn't need it. My wife is Ukrainian, and corresponds with many folks back home, so having Russian and Ukrainian input languages is all she needed.

Thank you!

I guess that my only complains in Windows 7 will be that:

  • I cannot longer monitor my network activity visually (the leds on the PC Icon) That also aplies to WiFi icon.
  • When using small icons in Start Menu, if you unmark unneded items (such as default programs shrtcut or Printers and devices) the Start Menu won't decrease it's size...
  • The Information section in windows explorer does not always show what you need, for example, full size of the folder if you don't select any element, also, when in normal sized windows, the information is truncated and you can never see the full info...
  • When you have more or less 15 - 20 minutes using the PC, the hard drive starts to get activity, many services activate, and then shut down themselves... they are services related to windows itself as far as I monitor in task managger and services pane... but is a bit anoying and sometimes take memory (not that much, but I'm a memory maniac).
  • Basic Interface (non-Aero) slows down some stuff, like window animations (minimize, maximize) and some screensavers doesn't look good on it (Bubbles is a great example) It seems that this interface has issues with video aceleration and/or CPU handling... pretty weird bug btw...
May not be the correct place, but if you experience slow boot time in W7, try this option in the image. In msconfig (System configuration) go to the tab "Boot" and click andvanced options button, in there, select the number of cores that your processor have (may have more than 2, here I got a dual core, so 2 is the max I got) This works quite good and boot time decreases a lot. This only aply to multicore CPU's (sorry, the pic is in spanish due to my native language setting XD)

See ya!! :D

EDIT: I found a way to use small icons, I'm just stupidly blind XD
EDIT2: Found another thing that I don't liked XD

When you have more or less 15 - 20 minutes using the PC, the hard drive starts to get activity, many services activate, and then shut down themselves... they are services related to windows itself as far as I monitor in task managger and services pane... but is a bit anoying and sometimes take memory (not that much, but I'm a memory maniac).

You should break that habit. This is not Windows XP and memory is not managed the same way. Windows 7 knows how to manage memory, leave it alone.

Basic Interface (non-Aero) slows down some stuff, like window animations (minimize, maximize) and some screensavers doesn't look good on it (Bubbles is a great example) It seems that this interface has issues with video aceleration and/or CPU handling... pretty weird bug btw...
Aero Basic....if your computer can handle Aero you should not be using Aero Basic at all. Aero Basic is CPU only it get zero GPU acceleration while most of Aero is done on the GPU.

Don't bother doing this. It does absolutely nothing. And never has. Its like telling a car it has four wheels. Changing this setting does not help your boot time. Windows is smart enough to cache everything from the previous boot and that is how you get a shorter boot time.

This is only used for TESTING and has nothing to do with performance. Leave the settings set to default. There are Threads on this here at SevenForums if you wish to read more on it. I don't have the link handy but can be searched.

See ya!! :D

EDIT: I found a way to use small icons, I'm just stupidly blind XD
EDIT2: Found another thing that I don't liked XD

Bottom line - Windows 7 handles memory very well. This is not XP or even Vista. There is nothing you can do and no third party software that can improve Win 7's memory management. At best, these efforts will do nothing; at worst, they will actually slow your system down. Forget everything you learned about memory and the registry in XP. It does not apply to Win 7.
