What gpu and windows version should i Get?

1: i have another thread with my system build parts. I where totaly 100% on to get a radeon 7950 from gigabyte. But then i thought about it. Should i use a nvidia card instead and wich one... The gpu prize is the same or less from the prize of the 7950. I where thinking gtx 660ti or higher. So i whant the best card in the same prize or less. Whould be really happy to find a gtx card with the same performance as the 7950 cheaper. I am almost only gaming. Some video rendering and recording but not that much.

2: what should i use windows vise? Win 7-8? And if should i go for the OEM or RETAIL? Going to use the standard win 8 or home premium win 7

It's not true for all games, but I'd say that the 7950 is usually more powerful than the 660ti. The 7950 model with boost is faster yet. If you want nVidia and a bump in performance, the 670 would be the choice. In the US (at Newegg), the 670 looks to start at around $360, vs. < 300 for the 7950. The 670 is a slightly cut-down 680, like the 7950 is to a 7970.

As I suggested in another thread, go for a Win 8 system builder license. Windows 8 pricing is crazy at the moment: an upgrade license costs more than a system builder copy, which is the closest thing to a full retail copy as currently exists. I guess that the current chaos suggests that Microsoft is going somewhere different with Windows licensing in the future. They're pushing a subscription model for Office, but I can't imagine that for their operating system. The screaming in the do-it-yourself community would be unimaginable.
