What is the best build I can get for $6500

Hi

I have recently received a large sum of money. I won't go into the details about how it came about, but I have decided that I will spend it on a computer.

I have come up with the following build so far (prices as at my local Australian computer stores):
MOBO: Gigabyte G1 Assassin II X79 - $439
CPU: Intel i7 3960X LGA2011 - $1089
GPU: Gigabyte GTX690 4Gb - $1499 (slightly cheaper than the Asus equivalent)
Case: Coolermaster Cosmos II RC-1200 - $389
RAM: G.Skill TridentX 2400Mhz 4x8Gb (32Gb) - $518
ODD: Pioneer Bluray drive - $189
SSD: OCZ Vertex 4 512Gb x2 (raid0) - $1458
HDD: 1Tb velociraptor 10k rpm - $335

Those items come to a total of $5916.

Are these the best all-round parts that I could get for that price? I will also need a power supply and an aftermarket CPU cooler, which I don't really have any ideas about what to get.

In summary, what do you guys think about the above parts, for a total of $5916? Any improvements to be made? Also, what would be some good suggestions for the PSU and CPU cooler? Should I go for liquid cooling, or air cooling?

You can buy four OCZ Vertex 4 128GB drives for $480US.

Good thinking, I could then put all of them in raid0.
What about a revodrive? Can you put two of those in raid0?

OCZ wouldn't be my choice for SSDs. Take a look at Samsung 830 series, or Crucial or Intel.

Be sure your motherboard and version of Windows 7 will support 32 GB of RAM. Only certain versions of Win 7 will support more than 16.

Seasonic is probably the premier PSU manufacturer. I think they have units up to 1250 watts, but I have no idea if you need that much---I don't know what that graphics card requires. Excluding the graphics card, you probably wouldn't need over 300 watts.

Why the need to spend "all" of the money on a single computer?? I'd honestly say take the $6500 and use 1/3 of it now, 1/3 of it in 2 years and 1/3 again in 2 years. 6 years from today, no matter what you spend, it will be antiquated.

First thing to think about is; are there other things I need in my life more important then the best system ever?

If not then one suggestion I will make is go with Samsung 830 SSD's. Better performance but mostly more reliable.

Don't spend too much if any on a blueray, most future and current HD type media will be through stream and files, not dvd's.

You'll definitely need a custom cooling system, don't go cheap there. Research it. I don't have a powerful enough system where I needed to build a custom cooling system so I can't give advice there.

As for everything else I can't comment, seems too extreme to me unless gaming and/or video editing is your life. If you don't have any other hobbies GO FOR IT! Myself here in the states would grab myself a new SCAR 17 and build a custom pc for around 2,500. But hey, that's just me, I love guns as much as I love my pc.

Only other advice is to shop around and look for those newegg sales that come and go very quickly.

New found money is great, but it rarely gets spent wisely. Have fun building that monster, building it is almost the best part.
