What is the total number of fans in your rig.

...I've added very tight mesh filter material for all intakes this works well for dust...
Good idea. I have 3 grills on the side panel of my case, and they are clearly drawing air in as they are covered in dust. Should also help to keep the inside of my case cleaner. This won't prevent the mesh openings from being covered in dust, but it should prevent that dust from being drawn into my case.

I think I might have found a use for an old pair of tights (not mine, I hasten to add).

Alternatively, I might have a look to see if I can get any vacuum cleaner filters that might do the job.
I've now got the parts for the filter. They are a cut-to-fit vacuum cleaner filter (should be able to get 2 filters from that), a metal wall vent (with slider, which I shall remove to make room in the recess for the filter material), and some nuts/bolts to fasten it to the side panel of the case (on the inside). Just need to drill the holes for the bolts.

I was considering magnetic strips to hold the filter to the side panel, but couldn't locate any. I also thought of a wire mesh, which I would fasten by weaving picture wire through it and the outermost holes in the grids in the side panel. I rejected this idea on the grounds that it would be fiddly to install, and would not lend itself to the easy cleaning/replacement of the filter as needed (in addition, it would, in all likelihood, squash the filter material thereby reducing its effectiveness).

My solution, therefore, solves these problems. It allows the filter material to breathe, and it also makes for easy maintenance.

Off topic a bit but we need to keep those fans and cases clean boys and girls.

Walmart automotive section. $35.55 with sales tax.
Might even clean the van. Hmmm? :sarc: Never mind that idea. :D

Sorry for the off topic.
This vacuum works great on cases, fan intakes, CPU's and video cards.
Suction is as good as the big ones proportionally with smaller I.D. hose and attachments.
I just finished cleaning my HAF.

If you don't need one fine.
This is for those who might be considering one.

I wish I hadn't already purchased my Oreck mini this looks to be a great little vac. I like how my Oreck is available with Hepa bags which help with dust out the exhaust end of the vac. I use Hepa filtration on my shop vac and you can't believe how much it stops exhaust dust.

It's not a vac, but a blower. You can find it other places but at the above link is the cheapest I've found.

IownAmoneyPit,
Nice air flow with quiet fans drawing lots of air, then big air through the cooler with push/pull 120's and the 140 exhaust.

Scythe Susanoo

A Guy

thats one BIG ASS cooler..
here's how i have my fan setup. aswell as what u see in the pic i have a 200mm on the side panel as intake too.in the picture the H50 is setup as push pull intake but its been turned bk round since the pic was taken. im planning on gettin a H100 in the next week which will be mounted up top with 2 fans pushing air up and out through the rad. then ill have a 120 as exhaust where the H50 was.
in the front i have the stock corsair filter but the top and side panel i made filters from steal and copper wire mesh. they do a great job :D
Case temps are usually between 25c and 29c depending on if im gaming.
Gpu idle 44c, load 58/60c
Cpu idle 35c load(IBT) 50c, (BF3)45c

I hope you don't honestly believe that your CPU is running at 10°C, as it is physically impossible for it to be running at anything less than the ambient/room temperature.

Martin123,
Especially with the dust all over the fan blades and then imagine what's going on below it in the cooling fins. I would consider a top to bottom clean, getting all dust out of intakes and exhausts???? but for sure the single fan and all cooling fins.
Then get the air and blast that PSU as it will be loaded with dust as it is likely as much of an exhaust as anything in your system. Sometimes less is more and somethings it's just less?
