No .dmps included... If you are using CCleaner to clean out your files, it is probably deleting the .dmps. Please refrain from running any file cleaning programs while you are getting troubleshooting here.


Your Event Viewer logs indicate only one bugcheck: it is DirectX/graphics card related. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.



Follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. To re-install your display card drivers as outlined in the DirectX link, use the following steps.

  1. Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)
  2. Click Start Menu
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Click Uninstall a program
  5. For NVIDIA:
    • Uninstall the NVIDIA Graphics Driver (this should uninstall all NVIDIA software and drivers)
    • Restart your computer
    • Make sure NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver, NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player, NVIDIA HD Audio Driver, and NVIDIA PhysX System Software are not still listed under Uninstall a program through Control Panel
    • If any remain of the above, uninstall one at a time
    • If asked to restart after uninstalling any of the above, do so, and continue uninstalling any remaining NVIDIA items until all are removed
  6. For AMD:
    • Uninstall AMD Catalyst Install Manager if it is listed (this should remove all AMD graphics software and drivers)
    • If AMD Catalyst Install Manager is not listed, use the following method to uninstall the graphics drivers (this applies to onboard graphics, as well):
      1. Click Start Menu
      2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
      3. Click Manage
      4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
      5. Expand Display adapters
      6. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
        • Right click the adapter
        • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
        • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
      Alternatively:
      1. Login as an adminstrative user
      2. Click Start Menu
      3. Click Control Panel
      4. Click Hardware and Sound
      5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
      6. Expand Display adapters
      7. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
        • Right click the adapter
        • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)

  7. Restart your computer after uninstalling drivers for all display cards

Remember to try multiple versions of the graphics drivers, download them fresh, and install the freshly downloaded drivers.

Hi,

This part is confusing. I cannot find NVIDIA in my programme list to uninstall. Where can i download all the drivers(needed for this re-installing process) i want for my display card(s)?

I am on the "Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX" and i notice i cannot click on "change setting" see attached pic 1.

And regarding the uninstalling of graphics drivers, do i need to uninstal everything here in the list? If not which one do i need to uninstall? Attached pic 2

Lastly isit ok to ignore the last "Alternatively:..." section?

You do not have an nVidia card. You have an integrated graphics device within your motherboard. You want to uninstall the Intel G41 Express Chipset drivers under Display adapters.

I guess you missed this in my previous steps:
  • (this applies to onboard graphics, as well):
    1. Click Start Menu
    2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
    3. Click Manage
    4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
    5. Expand Display adapters
    6. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
      • Right click the adapter
      • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
      • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
    Alternatively:
    1. Login as an adminstrative user
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Hardware and Sound
    5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)

I post a thread regarding drivers. Someone told me to use the Intel VGA driver. I wonder isit correct? I tried to install that few weeks ago but the same thing still happens.

So basically i only need to uninstall the "Intel G41 Express Chipset drivers under Display adapters". Restart and re-install the new drivers(Intel VGA driver)?

Yes. It appears you are still having the same problem you were having in that thread. We would also still prefer if your system specs were in your profile and not in a post in another thread or in this thread. That way, if you start other threads later, you do not have to keep linking back to your old threads and have us try to find the post that contains the information. Many of us are helping in anywhere from tens to hundreds of threads, so having to get your info each time takes away from our ability to help others. By putting your specs in your profile information, you are being respectful to those helping and also to other users getting help on the forums.

Well, this morning what i did was uninstall the "Intel G41 Express Chipset drivers under Display adapters". Restart the pc and install this Intel VGA driver. All is well until now. Previously i did not uninstal the old one. Is there any difference if i don't uninstal it first?

Let hope this will solve the problem. I will monitor it for awhile and post back. And how do i upload my system spec to my profile?

You can upload the system specs in Internet Explorer if you use that browser. If you use a different browser, you will need to enter it by hand. The application makes it easier to get the information in a clear manner.

There is a difference if you do not uninstall the older drivers before installing the new drivers. If the old drivers were corrupted, remnants of the corrupted files can still exist with the new install, so installing over them does not remove the corrupted files. Uninstalling first removes the corrupted files so the updated drivers can be installed fresh with no old files remaining.

Let us know how the system is responding after you have more time to do your normal routine.

Hi,

Just awhile ago i encountered another sudden shut down/restart. What do you think is wrong this time? Should i try out another drivers?

After the PC restarted. 15mins after using, the screen black out and recovered. The "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" message appeared.

I think something is wrong with my graphics card or harddisk.. I am wondering should i change them?

Is the system still under warranty?

If there is something wrong with the graphics card, that would indicate there is something wrong with the motherboard. It would be good to know if the system is under warranty.

No more warranty i bought this for more than 1 year. Warranty is 1 year i think.

I notice that after i uninstal the old driver and restart, the pc automatically detect and install the driver itself even before i install the newly downloaded ones. Wondering is this also a problem.

This is the new BSOD message i got..

That BugCheck indicates hard disk problems. This could mean hard disk corruption, bad sectors, a failing hard disk, Windows files or registry corruption, viruses, or memory problems.
  • If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

  • Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96938-check-disk-chkdsk-read-event-viewer-log.html (you may need to search for wininit instead of chkdsk).
    For any drives that do not give the message:
    Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
    run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
    Windows has made corrections to the file system
    after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

  • Run the short and long tests with SeaTools for HDDs.
  • If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
    • SSD firmware
    • BIOS Version
    • Chipset Drivers
    • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
    • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

  • Check Windows for corruption. Run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.   • Download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan. Also run a full scan with your antivirus software installed on your system. Make sure to update the security software before running the full scan.

  • Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

    Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. :warn:WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

    For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
    1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
    2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
    3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
    4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
    Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

If it is software based, it probably will. Depends one whether you install the same software and drivers again, though. It could still be a software or driver conflict that is causing issues. We should first rule out hard disk corruption and errors first, though.
