What might be causing this to happen to my windows?

I recently installed a theme I found on Deviantart which looks really nice, but the top and bottom of my windows get greyed out whether I have transparency enabled or disabled. (On the original theme, the window colors are fully black.) Is there a reason this happens?

Welcome to the Seven Forums

Are you trying to do this with Windows Starter?

Did you use Universal Theme Patcher?

This is what I get.

Thank you for your reply Bongo.
Yes, I've patched it with Universal Theme Patcher, it says the files have already patched when I attempt to do it again.
It's really flustering me. It works properly on the virtual machine that I'm using on my desktop, but not on my netbook with an actual copy of Starter.
I don't like to believe it, but I feel these white edges on the sides of my windows are happening because because I followed the instructions from this basic theme before I installed Personalization Panel. The file has CorrectDesign.reg, ThemeReg.reg, etc

I'm not really sure what is causing it, Starter is one that you have to manipulate to get themes to work.
You could try Option 2 of this tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html it will not harm any data or programs you have installed it will try to find and repair any corrupt system files that you have. You may need to do this up to 3 times with a reboot after each scan. You will need to use universal theme patcher again afterwards and then see what happens.
