What TV series do you like these days

Hi everyone

TV these days on the whole seems to be full of boring "Celebs", stupid reality shows and quizzes that a well trained Zoo Gorrilla could answer. Most of the latest sitcoms are pretty horrible too.

However there are a few gems around

These are a few that I liked (from US and UK)

Covert Affairs
Burn Notice
Dark skies (Canadian series --didn't make it outside Canada but great series)
The Invaders -- old US series with Roy Thinnes --still a great series if you can find it any more
Stargate and Stargate Atlantis -- you can still find these on "the fillipino felines" site.
Star trek - The Original series --often available on CBS Action channel

Homeland --- passably OK

Midsomer Murders -- especially the latest series

Judge John Deed - UK series about a Radical High Court Judge who is usually at odds with his Home secretary (interior or justice minister equivalent in some countries)

Last resort

Strike Back (and Strike back withg a vengeance) UK series

Inspector Lewis (UK series --successor to the excellent Inspector Morse series.

Person of Interest (US)

And just recently a great newish series from the US : Falling Skies.

I've had to get this from an "alternative site" as it's not available where I am nor is it scheduled to be - but with decent speeds for download - no probs./

I'd BUY the DVD's if it were possible but if the only way to get this stuff is via "download" well so be it and I don't feel guilty at all -- I'm happy to PAY for content but why do they try and restrict it -- this is what causes a lot of piracy --and it only takes me around 15 Mins to download the WHOLE season 1 using a WIRELESS connection . !!! Enc screenshot of download speed. Could get it much quicker by using LAN cable but I'm quite happy for this type of speed.

Anyway list your favourites -- there must be some decent AUS, NZ, UK series etc that I've missed.

We like Animal Planet, all the CSI series, although the Miami one has finished now, NCIS, Law and Order, Dancing on Ice, Strictly Come Dancing, Country File or anything to do with the natural world.

Oh sorry there are too many to remember and name but since getting Satellite we have plenty of choice.

REALITY TV - %98.7456347813 is like pulling teeth.
COOKING SHOWS - Every man and his dog is in the kitchen. Always.
HOLLYWOOD GOSSIP - Typically some over the top camp guy talking about shit no-one in their right mind could possibly care about.
COP SHOW SPIN OFFS - Rare is a spin off as good. Or watchable.

The show I can't stand the most is:

"Do you think you can Master cook while star dancing amongst your home renovations hoping you aren't going to be voted off because you are still a Biggest Loser"

That show sucks.

I don't watch any of the so-called situation comedies. Most of the stuff I watch are documentaries. I like Gold Rush Alaska, and American Restoration. I watch a little sports. I watch very little news anymore because I know what the talking heads on both sides are going to say. They don't give much news only their opinion which is generally very biased. I'm talking about both sides when I say biased. This is how I feel.

Since BBC America finally started working here...Top Gear. I had seen, and liked, the American version, but after seeing the original, there is no comparison. And since I had never seen it, all the reruns are new to me. A Guy

The only thing we really watch is the Sunday Fox lineup (Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers).

We did watch Fringe but that's ending in 2 weeks. Aside from that, we just go to Hulu & watch Anime series. Or a good National Geographic special.
