What type of USB connector is this?

It's for my JVC Everio GZ-HD620 camcorder.

JVC want to charge £13.75 for a replacement cable but, of course, I am not paying that.

Can anyone help?

I looked on ebay first but they look the same as the one from SCAN?

In any event, EPIC FAIL on my part, but if you're going to fail, you may as well do it properly. :D

Not a fail on your part, These type of "special" connectors are a serious problem in the industry, You take a standard connection system and fit a non standard plug and socket on your product, thus creating an exclusive after-market for spares.

A lot of the traditional camera manufacturers did it often, in the early days, with the excuse that they had to find a socket that fitted their product design, that is only acceptable as long as you do not advertise the connection as the standard ;)

I've dug a bit further and and got a copy of the manual for this particular camera. Do you think it's a propriety cable?

It looks like a standard mini type b cable will work with that camera.
It looks like they made the port on the camera so that the supplied cable will only work with that camera.

I have plenty of those types of cables with my external hard drives. They 100% do not fit. They're too large. In fact, everything about them isn't the same...
