Solved What type of USB connector is this?

My last Amazon link says it should work for the JVC everio. Maybe they've got it wrong.

I found the cable! Took 4 days... :/

It was a normal mini USB cable Although admit it though, it didn't look like it would fit. The shape is different, the pin layout etc.!

There are standards and there are Standards, The USB standard is one that covers the electrical and connection specifics. Unfortunately I have had cases where two cables that meet the specification are not interchangeable due to minor construction details with the actual casing of the plug or location of the socket.

IMHO this should not be advertised as meeting the specification, or a better option would be to expand the specification to include all items that affect interchangability in actual use

No, the cable JVC is selling will probably only work on their camcorders since their connector is shaped different.
The device itself can accept both the JVC cable and the standard mini Type B connector.

Logical although the cable that ships with the camcorder is a standard mini Type B connector.

Hi, I have the exactly same problem and I'm going nuts with this, plus JVC staff keep sending me links to the regular Mini USB cable which DOES NOT fit in my camera. What did you do in the end? Where did you find the cable, please? Thanks a lot!!!!

I was wrong. Although looking at them, they look completely different, the standard micro/mini (I can't remember which, this topic is getting quite old) USB cable does indeed fit.
