As you all may know, Windows 7 is going to stop being supported by Microsoft next year.

Almost every country already has Windows 10 as the #1 used operating system, Except for China.

According to Gs.statcounter.com, Windows 7 has around 49,49% market share in China, With Windows 10 having 41,07%.

What will happen? Will the Chinese upgrade to that point?

Windows update bricks the computer so don't install updates on it.
Support cut is worldwide, there won't be any differentiation in countries, and everyone won't have it anymore since January 2020.

The fact you point to is merely coincidental, and while China seems reluctant to massively downgrade to Windows 10, it doesn't means that Microsoft cares about them (or anyone else for the matter). When their programed obsolecense date arrives, they'll "pull the plug" and only care about Win10.

Of course, all computers around (Win10 or not) will continue to run exactly the same as before, as the date is absolutely meaningless for the end user. Nobody will force to replace Win7 with anything else.

I agree with you. But just one thing.

I don't like people saying "downgrade to Windows 10". I think it's a little bit rude and I actually like 10.

I plan on buying a new laptop next year with Windows 10 Pro and put Windows 7 on a VM.

It's still a downgrade. Don''t take it personally.

39% of US Windows users are using 7, according to a stat I read in one of the tech magazines.

There is an excellent Linux OS made in China, called Deepin. I don't know how many Chinese folks use it, but I would imagine quite a few, given the population. I used it for awhile a few years ago. I would say, however, use at your own risk. Some Westerners, myself included, are not certain about trusting a system made in China. nothing against the Chinese people, but it is after all a totalitarian state. That's why I stopped using it. but I may be totally wrong about this, it may be quite safe to use. Make your own decision.

I played with Deepin a little while ago, very nice indeed.Might have another look at it, when I get time.
