I "upgraded" to 7 about a month ago after using XP for several years, and am still wondering what's better about windows 7? It's slightly faster to boot, but most of the other changes are annoying at best, and it seems like this is just another excuse for Microsoft to extract more money from the public.

Been using it for a year almost. I would say it's just awesome :D. A little patience with a new OS will get you used to it & make you aware of the lovely UI+features. If you remain annoyed, guess you have the option Clean install of back to XP. :) :)

I dumped XP the day Vista was released, installed the 64bit version and never looked back, since I'm a power user, big ammounts of ram is needed on a daily basis on my computer, my daily average memory load is about 8~12GB, so XP only dreams about handling that much memory, even XP x64 wasnt on par of my tasks. Now I run Windows 7 and as in Vista I never had a single problem about slowness, blue screens, etc.

Kind of with Needles on this, "lovely UI features" dont justify a new OS or the cost.

Far better hardware support. Faster boots and install time. Very infrequent BSOD's. 64bit XP was awful, but if you have more than 4GB of RAM, you need a 64bit OS to utilize it all. DirectX 11 support for better gaming. Personally I like the new Superbar and library functionality. And while completely asthetic, I just like the way the GUI looks a lot better in Windows 7.

+1 for pparks.

Windows 7 is a bit like an iceberg - there's the icing on top (pardon the pun) but most of the goodness is below the surface. Once you explore all the things 7 can do and all the various tools and components it offers, you'll appreciate it. As for the UI, don't worry, it's just a matter of spending time and getting used to the new changes.

And:

We fully support Windows 7. ;)
