When installing Graphic driver, system is failing(BSOD).

Hello guys!

I have been dealing with a problem now since January and I wonder if someboddy is recognizing this. My system gets a bsod when I install the graphic driver. It doesnt happen directly but after a while when im on the internet or when I'm trying to run FM 2012 or other games. Then when i reboot I get bsod before windows startup. When the driver isn't installed the computer is running without problem but im not able to play a game or connect the computer to TV and stuff like that.

When I reboot again and put the computer in Safe mode I uninstall the driver in device manager and reboot again and the computer is able to start normally.:huh:

The files that cause the bsod is:

atikmpag.sys <------ almost every time this one

dxgkrnl.sys

ntoskrnl.exe


*I looked around on the internet for soloutions, there're many and I have tried almost all. I've tried to remove everything with driver sweeper to install the latest update to my ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2. Even tried to install old updates.

*I have tried to install various OS. Vista x32, x64. Windows 7 x32, x64 and even XP. The problem remains. Now when I know that it doesn't matter I have Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

*I have opened up my computer and removed all the dust from the motherboard, Graphic card and CPU. The temp is OK!

*I removed one RAM memory and it didn't work.

*I've never overclocked anything.

*I've done some system test over night and it didn't find any errors.

*I've upgraded drivers on the bios and everything else on the motherboard and CPU.

I wonder if someboddy knows anything about this problem?

Is that a single Radeon 4870 X2 or is it two Radeon HD 4870's? If it's two, have you removed one to see if things run fine with drivers using only one card?

You have 3 crashdumps with 1 dated allll the way back in Jan 2010, yet the timestamps for the modules (drivers) are new. I've personally only seen this caused by either a CMOS issue (which is altering your system clock), a BIOS issue (your BIOS is dated 01/18/2010, sure there's no update?), or using an illegal copy of Windows. I guess it could also be due to crashdump corruption but I doubt it since no other errors were presented when loading it.

Just to be absolutely sure, first run this. If you have the option to RESOLVE do so. Then proceed to the Windows tab and click Copy then paste it here.

It worked before on vista (5 months ago) but something just went wrong :S

It's only one Radeon 4870 x2.The dump that is dated 2010 is a dump from today. I removed the bios battery today and got that dump, I had to fix the date and clock on my computer. I have updated to the latest bios before (last time 2 weeks ago) and it didnt work. It's only when I install the driver to my graphic that the errors occured. Here is the thing you asked me to do.

Ahh, that would definitely explain the timestamp discrepancy for sure.

Anyways, given that these are all TDR failures, we should start by either using the latest RC/beta version of the graphics drivers to see if that resolves the issue. If that doesn't work, rollback to the drivers from January (February appears problematic too). If that still doesn't work, then we can most likely rule out the graphics drivers as responsible.

I recommend you turn on Driver Verifier for the duration of this troubleshooting procedure. In addition to what the article says about which checks not to select (Low Resource Simulation), also do not check IRP Logging and Force Pending I/O Requests. Read the article in its entirety before you restart after finishing setting up DV.
