Hello,

I have a problem with my Lenovo Ideapad Z570 or with my TV Thomson 40FW3324. I'm trying to connect them with a HDMI cable. When I plug the cable in and extend or duplicate my screen nothing happens. I reinstalled my graphic card drivers (Nvidia 520M GT and INTEL HD 3000), it didn't help. I even bought a new HDMI cable to be sure that it isn't a cable malfunction. What should I do to get it working?

Have you selected the correct input on the TV?

Yes, I put it to HDMI 1 and also HDMI 2 none of them work. HDMI 1 is ARC and HDMI 2 is MHL.

Can you try it on a different TV? Since its a laptop its portable. Perhaps a neighbor or friend with a TV that has an HDMI input. That will at least isolate it to the PC or the TV.

Did you rigt click on the desk top, select screen resolution and extend the desktop to mirror to the HDMI output. If you didnt, Windows will not automatically turn on the HDMI output . You need to set it to mirror the output to the HDMI.

Fireberd I used another computer Lenovo B590 and the hdmi worked for that, so it's my laptop's problem.

Bobyell, how do I mirror it specifically to hdmi. What I usually do is, I plug the cable in on tv and on computer. Push win+P and sellect duplicate or extend and that's it. Do I have to do something else to turn on the hdmi output?

Thanks for all your help!

On my HP laptops , if you right click on the desktop >select screen resolution. When your connected to the external screen it should show up as as 2nd monitor. Just tell it to exented your desktop to the HDMI connected port, but have it duplicate it. Thats how my HP systems work. I dont think you should use the arc port though, if i remember correctly, i had issues with it.

Another possible concern- does the TV support the output resolution that the computer is set to? Does it support the Hz refresh rate? Even via HDMI you need to double check compatibility between PC resolutions and what the monitor supports. If you're trying an unsupported resolution or refresh rate you'll get no signal. TVs are not always as good as a dedicated monitor when it comes to what resolutions they support.

Bobyell,my laptop doesn't even see a second monitor, when I try to detect it, it says another monitor not found. Also for some reason it says i have a analog display and a laptop display connected when the hdmi cavle is not plugged in. One is VGA and the other is mobile pc display.Maybe there is something wrong there. Is there a hdmi protocol or something in services.msc that I may have disabled?

Thank you for your help!
