Where are the printer ports?

Hey,

I can't seem to find the printer ports preferences. I tried installing a printer on the network, but did it with the wrong driver, so I uninstalled the printer. When I tried to reinstall it again with a different driver, it says that the port name is already in use.

Now, I'm aware that there's a way to view the printer ports and install a printer using one of them, but I can't find that anywhere. It was possible in Vista, too, I believe.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

First it might be helpfull to fill in your system specs (lower left corner) do that we know what hardware you have. Is it 32bit? clean install? what version of win 7?

Ah my bad. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, 32bit, just installed 2 days ago (didn't do upgrade, clean install).

I thought that these ports were at all specific to the machine, though, only to the OS.

Thanks.

Yeah it's a USB printer attached to the wireless router using a print server.

Perhaps you are misunderstanding what I'm looking for though. The ports list does not depend at all on the device. There should be a general list of all the ports for devices.

I actually just found it. You can't view the port list without going through a device first. I just right clicked on a random device from Devices and Printers and clicked Printer Properties. There is a tab there for Ports. I'm surprised there's no option to viewing ports without selecting a device first.

Thanks anyway!
