That is probably why my log only goes from the time gateway had it to when BestBuy installed their bloatware on it. I've never had occasion to install any new hardware. just programs.

. The CBS log is where Windows logs updates/component installation messages, although if you want messages from installing MSI-packaged software you have to enable MSI verbose logging if the app doesn't already do so in it's manifest. I usually keep a dev VM around for installing those sorts of apps (all debug settings enabled), and if a package is legit and doesn't cause issues I'll put it on my main machine.
