Where is "Edit" in Windows Live Essential Email

I just got a new computer that has Windows 7 on it. Windows update installed Windows Live Essentials for my email program. It has been taking me forever to find things with this email program. Right now, no matter my search I can not find the "Edit" option whenever I am keying a message. For instance, today I made a big mistake in the body of my email message and wanted to "undo" it, but I could not find anywhere the "Edit". I have right clicked on every bar trying to find an option for adding a toolbar that would have "Edit" on it. But all I get is something that says something about allowing a "Quick Assess Toolbar" which does not have "Edit" on it.
So where is the "Edit" option and how do I get it to show up with the other options?

You put the cursor on the first word that you want to change
Left click and drag the cursor to the end. Then just hit delete

I know how to do that, but that wouldn't have helped me correct the mistake I was trying to correct. I had a recipe in the body of my message and wanted to use the bullets and numbers format. I put in bullets when I meant to put in numbers but I could not undo the bullets. I would have hated to delete the whole recipe just to get rid of the bullets! And deleting one bullet at a time was very time consuming because there were a lot of ingredients and steps in the directions. I just wanted to undo the bullets and then apply the numbers. Surely MS did not leave out the option to undo mistakes?

Editing a formatted message has always been challenging. Perhaps its easier for people familiar with MS Office. (That's not me!) What I find myself doing is copying the message into Notepad to get rid of the formatting and then pasting it back in to a blank page.

roncerr: Since I have started using WLE I have discovered that MS put a lot of the same options into WLE we have gotten use to, but have put an option in a location that we are not use to seeing that particular option. So my thinking was that there was really a way to edit messages and that I just did not know the location of the Edit option. Before I became a member here I did a research on this forum and never came across anyone that had posted this question. So I decided to register as a member and post my question. MS has added so many new features to this new email program that it is hard to believe that they left out a feature that most people used frequently.

I guess I could do as you suggested, but that sounds like going around your hand to get to your thumb.

Maybe the option really does exists but we just don't know about it. Hopefully if it does, someone will see this question who knows the answer and will post the solution.

In the previous Vista program, Windows Mail, each email draft message does have an edit option. But the only choices are: cut, copy, paste, select all, find, and remove hyperlink. In addition there is a bar above the message text with formatting options. Those options include switching between bulleted and numbered lists. On Windows 7, I have installed Windows Live Mail 2009/2010 and it has the same capabilities in similar places except that switching between numbered and bulleted lists can be done from a drop down choice on the bar. I have not yet switched to 2011 as I'm waiting until 2011, when some of the bugs might be fixed.

I do have Windows Live Essentials 2011 and that may be where the problem lies. I have this problem posted on 2 other forums, including MS Solutions Forum and so far no one has answered. If I ever get a correct answer, weather it be "that there is a Edit option and where it is" or "if this option is no longer available", I will post back here and let everyone know. The only reason I even have WLE 2011 is because when I did Windows Update, right after I got my computer, this was included in the updates. I had no idea what it was.

Use the web version installer for 2009 to download only what you want, but you can't mix and match any part of WLE 2011 with 2009/10. You'd have to uninstall 2011 completely first and only install and use 2009/10. You can hide the 2011 Windows Update so you can control when and how much of 2011 you want when you're ready.

Just read your post and I used to use WLE and got so fed up with it I uninstalled it and am using hotmail and another one from Yahoo.
I am not suggesting you to do the same but over time you will see that WLE is a real pain. IMHO

Edit feature missing in Windows Live Mail

I know this forum post is ages old but I don't see the answer here but another site has posted it and if anyone is still searching this forum, here is what I found for editing in Windows Live Mail.

With the message page you are trying to edit open, press the ALT key and a series of icons will appear in a new bar just above the message. I show them as save, undo, redo, attach file, hi priorty, low priority, and a down arrow labeled as Customize Quick Access Toolbar. Clicking the Customize Quick Access Toolbar will give several choices, one of which is show above ribbon if you want the icons to appear in the title bar instead of it's own toolbar.

I have WLE 2012 and use WLM as my default client (never liked Outlook). I created a test email and put in a few bullet points, I then put my cursor at the beginning of the first bullet pointed word and clicked numbers instead of bullets, it changed them over automatically, no need to delete them and start over!
