Where is the Artist tag for song files?

Hi Guys,

I was wondering why doesn't Windows 7 show the artist tag for song files?

Vista used to show it normally, 7 just shows "Contributing Artists" and "Album Artist" only...

Any hints?

It's still possible to do this in Windows 7. Take a look at the picture. Right-click where the arrow is.

Just tried it, most of the songs appear to have no Album Artist at all

Oddly enough, iTunes and Songbird recognize the Artist tag normally...

Is there a way to tweak the registry to bring it back? or at least create one that displays the tag?

Try using Mp3tag to assign new tags.

Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor (ID3v2, MP4, OGG, FLAC, ...)

After ALOT of researching on how to copy Artists to Album Artists, I was finally able to use Mp3Tag and use the "Actions" to copy them all...

I now can use MusicPiCard to tag the file and Mp3Tag to copy the tags...
