Hmm, if you want a good out of the box browser(without the addons and stuff), I recommend Google chrome since it's the fastest that can render javascript. If you want to customize your browser to your needs, hands down to firefox.

Thanks any other suggestions? Why not IE 9 beta?

Thanks any other suggestions? Why not IE 9 beta?

Because it's a beta.

Basically, download them all - try them all and select the one you like the best.

They all have their own pros and cons and it just boils down to personal preferences.

Were's the harm in having two or three on your machine ? I have IE available but my preference is Chrome as several site where taking way long to load if at all with IE I've jumped back to Chrome and enjoy it speed and other features.

Funny how people have this love/hate relationship with browsers. "I use browser X 'cos it's faster/better/smaller/more secure etc etc etc." Its a browser, not a religion. Try em all and use more than one if you want.

Just want to add: I use FF myself. IMO the best one. Tried Chrome for two weeks but wasn't at all impressed. Still on my PC though. IE is obviously on as well but I never bother with that. One I can definitely recommend is Opera, not the fastest but very very slick looking if that's your thing.

On my PC, I have Firefox and IE.

On my Mac, I have Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.

I tend to use Firefox on both most of the time. But I've grown comfortable with it over the years, so I continue to use it.

Like everyone else said. Get 'em all. Try 'em all. They're free. See which feels more natural to you.

Firefox for the addons. IE9 but it's a beta and not many addons.

Others, I'm not sure about but I heard Chrome is fast.

I agree with smarteyeball, linnemeyerhere, bigseb, and skiltrip...Try them all. If you do a search on this forum for "best browser" you will probably find quite a few hits...

Windows 7 Forums - Search Results

I use FF about 80% of the time with the rest split between, IE 8.0, Opera, and Chrome.

As the guys said, that question is very difficult to answer. It is like if you asked:"What food and wine do you recommend I eat".

I myself prefer IE8 after I tried most of the others. Reason is because it works perfectly "out of the box". FF is too confusing with all the plug-ins. Chrome is plain but fast. Opery is fancy but slow. I have also tried some exatic ones but alway came back to the IE. Interestingly enough there are some things I can do with the AOL browser that none of the others can do - but else it sucks.

Best is you try them all and then decide.

My favorite is Opera its fast & has lots of features , mouse gestures.,notes ,Opera mail, Panels, movable Toolbars , Opera Turbo etc already integrated into the browser.
It has much smoother scrolling & zooming than the other browsers.

I advise you try to them all by downloading the Portable versions.
Install them to a folder on your hard drive no changes are made to your registry & if you don't like them all you have to do is delete the Folder.

Opera 10.63
Opera@USB : download your free version of mobile Opera:

Chrome 7.0.517.44
Google Chrome Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB drives

Firefox 3.6.12
Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB drives

................................................................
IE9 is not a portable & if you install it it will remove IE 8 . If you don't like it & want IE8 back you just have to remove IE 9 you can never accuse Microsoft of letting you know helpful info like that up front.
I have no idea if it preserves your settings, bookkmarks or not.
Its quite a good browser & has some interesting features.

Hmm, how come then that minne is such a slowpoke. Much slower than IE and Chrome that I also use. Only the AOL browser is slower.

WHS- I also used the default settings when I first ran Opera and its performance was no better than FF, but when I increased the connections settings Opera it nearly tripled its download bandwidth speed according to Bandwidth Meter Pro. You can also opt out of sending referrer information to the web sites you visit if you prefer.

It is not the download speed with which I have a problem. It is the access to webpages - takes forever.

I have Opera's memory cache turned off and it still accesses and downloads webpages 2-3 times faster than FF with the ISP I use.
