Hello,

Can I please get some advice on which programs not to allow at start up. I just do not want to crash my system. I have been noticing that my system is running slower, and I think there are too many programs loading,

hpsysdrv Application
HP MediaSmart Smart Menu
Microsoft Security Client
Catalyst Control Center
PDF Complete
DATAMNGR
hpwuSchd Application
Adobe Reader And Acrobat Manager
Adobe CS4 Service manager
Apple Push
intuitSyncManager
Spybot Search And Destroy
Java(TM) Platform SE Auto Loader
Carbonite InfoCenter
Quicktime
iTunes
LasPass Installer (some reason it is listed twice)
QuckBooks Automatic update
PictureMover Application

Thanks Jr

Just for clarification - these are no files, they are programs.

You can disable everything except those two:

Microsoft Security Client
Spybot Search And Destroy (this used to be a good program but is kind of dated now)

Nothing bad will happen. They will start when needed. You won't even notice the difference.

You are welcome. Your boot time should improve when you disabled all those buggers and the RAM usage should also go down. They were just sitting there like toads waitng for a fly passing by.

Hello,

Great, I was seeing programs just not work correctly. Especially Photoshop CS4. Been having a real lag time with it when cropping. Worst part is I have 12gigs of memory on the system. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help,
JR

Yeah, I don't think that this action will help your CS4 problem. That must have another cause. With acres of RAM the startups should not make much of a difference.

However, for cropping there are alot lighter options - e.g. FastStone Image Viewer which is an excellent program for dealing with pictures.
