which is better Speedfan or CPUIDHWMonitor.

hey all, just want to get opinions on which is best. speedfan or cpuidhwmonitor. i have used both and have accurate readings on both. on some desktops have had very different readings. aiso use everest home edition 2.20 and it seems to work on some desktops but not all. i am in to freeware and don't want to pay for core temp or real temp. just want to get some input and see what others use. thanks. poorguy

hey AddRAM, i had forgotten about speccy. been using speedfan for along time but kinda wonder how accurate it really is. cpuidHWMonitor seems accurate for the most. seems that i get real high vcore on some prebuilt desktops that i have tried it on. never tusted voltage readings with speedfan if they even showed up. i know speedfan back in the day seemed better than in later versions out now. i found PC Wizard so i will give it a try and compare its readings to the others. thanks for the speccy input. have used it before and just forgot about it. damn old age. poorguy

Neither Core Temp or Real Temp are pay programs? That said, I never liked speedfan. It is useful for controlling fans, but I prefer other programs for monitoring temps and voltages. HWMonitor is good. OCCT also is good for temps and voltages. Real Temp is my favorite, but Core Temp is comparable. HWiNFO is also good HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools

That said, I never liked speedfan.

Ditto. Plenty of better alternatives.

Since they're free - try them all.


(Just be aware of the installers. Some try to add stuff. Coretemp is one. Good app though.)

hey all, what a bummer, core temp or real temp do not support my old pentium d 945. some of these programs don't like intel or maybe the older ones. well with everest and hwmonitor and speedfan they all read the same or pretty close so those are what i will keep. speccy and pcwizard read some temps but not my cpu temp. oh well can't complain pulled a half dozen hp desktops off of the side of the road got them running and just wanted to monitor the temps. thanks. poorguy

hey all, it is amazing to me the differences that these hardware monitors show and don't show. seems that speedfan and cpuid hwmonitor show the most temps that i want to look at. speccy/pcwizard/everest only show or detect some of the sensors mainly just hard drive temps. core temp and real temp don't even support my processor. all in all i am glad that at least two out of the seven which i have tried seem to be working well and are pretty close to each other. i found an old download of mother monitor and that didn't even work and had not been updated for years. thanks for all the input. poorguy
