I currently have the option to install either the 32bit home premium or a 64bit. I have 8gb ram and would like to utilize all of it. As of what i know 32bit can only use up to 3.5gb ram and running some 32bit programs may be slower if ran at 64bit?

correct me if im wrong... :D

also, is there a way for me to use all 8gb ram running at 32bit?

Thanks!

I strongly advise using the Windows 7 64 bit.
It will allow your computer to be able to work with more than 3.7GB of RAM.

Will 32bit programs lag or run slower when running on 64bit?

The simple answer; use the 64bit as it is the newer technology and will see all of your 8gb of ram.

Hi and welcome to the sevenforums.

The 32bit programs should not be slower under 64bit Windows 7. Either way, having the use of all your RAM is much more advantageous, depending on what you plan to do.

You must use 64bit to use your RAM. 32bit apps are going to run fine under Windows 64. If they do run slower, it will be such a miniscule amount that you won't notice it..even with a stopwatch.
