Hi all

I have Windows 7 installed on my PC and I was wondering which wireless USB adapter would work best?

At present I have a Netgear PCI wireless card which wont work and I prefer the USB devices anyway.

Looking forward to any assistance. Cheers :)

Hi martd and welcome to Se7en Forums

What make and model of router are you using? You can get USB tranceivers for all of the popular makes, but it is best to use the same manufacturer for both.

Hi martd,

What ever brand it is, make sure it carries native windows 7 drivers for both 32bit and 64bit.

Stay away from netgear.
A lot of problems with netgear have been posted here before.

For the rest, just watch this thread grow with suggestions. :D

I bought this one this past weekend. Works really good. Low price and fast shipping, too. I'm currently using it on my wife's PC running WinXP Pro and the router is a Airlink wireless G. One day when I upgrade to a wireless N router, this adapter will be all set to take advantage of the N speed, but for now, it's working great. I've only bought Airlink over the past 6 years and it's been a very good product.

Does it have native Win7 32bit and 64bit drivers on the CD?
Will it run well under Win7?

Sorry all, I promised i'd let you know didnt I?!

Thanks to Alejolas for the nudge :)

The Tenda adapter worked straight out of the box with Win7 Beta (not sure which release)

Downloads and uploads are flying and I have had no drop-outs that i've noticed.

My internet speed (SKY broadband) is 9213kbps and I download at 950kBps so theres no lag from the connection.

Router is in my hall and my PC is in the lounge - 1 thick brick wall and on the other side of the room and its all good :D

The logo is upside down when plugged into the USB dock but to be honest I can just about live with that ;)

9.9/10 (lost 0.1 cos of logo :p)

Cheers
