Why are all my recordings low volume and garbled?

If I use the Sound Recorder the recording level barely moves and the sound is clear for only 30 seconds and then gets very garbled. I also had a Roxio program on my computer that had the same issue with garbling. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it thinking that was the problem, but it did not help. What do I do?

Could you please update your System Specifications by downloading Speccy, and then going to UserCP, and copying all the information from the Speccy program, into your Edit System Spec fields.

Could you please also upload your a .NFO file of your system by going to:

Start :orb: > Type "msinfo32" (without quotes)

File -> Save (when msinfo32 has opened)

Save the .NFO file to your Desktop

Then create a Zipped Folder and place the .NFO file within the folder

Upload the folder with the file to this thread, by creating a new post and using the paper clip icon within the area in which you write your posts for this thread.

Not sure how to do that. When I clicked on the paperclip then clicked browse it said it was downloading, but nothing shows up in this reply block. Also, zipped folder wasn't an option, but "Create New Folder" was.

Thanks

I have going to say to find the latest version of your Sound Card driver, but this doesn't seem a viable option unless you contact your computer manufacturer, according to the support site for your Sound Card.

Conextant Support

Are you recording both sound and video or just sound?

Just recording sound.

Okay, and I wanted to see the date of your drivers.

Are you just using Windows Sound Recorder? What hardware are you using to record the sound input?

I used the "Sound Recorder" that came with the computer ands also I tried a Roxio program. Both had the same results.

What did you use to record the sound input? Did you use a external microphone?

I'm using the "Sound Recorder" that came with the computer or the Roxio program I downloaded. Both do the same thing. I used the microphone input and a Galaxy Tab. I also tried my Zoom music recorder as a source....all go to the mic input.

SpritSailor: BlueRobot asked what was the input source of your recording. You repeated information already provided.

So what are you trying to record, how are your trying to record it. Is it line in, microphone or something else.

PCs are not stereo equipment and they don't do a good job with anything other than a microphone.

If you want someone to help, please answer questions they need to know to help trouble shoot the issue on your machine.

Sometimes I don't ask the right question or ask for more information. If your sound is garbled, it could be any number of things - hardware, driver, user error. no one here can divine an answer based on how you defined the issue.

Think about it. If you work on cars, and someone came to you and said "My car won't start"... well there's about a hundred questions that could be avoided if the person had said "My car won't start and the lights don't work either".

The point I'm trying to make is that if you provide as much information as possible, someone can moist likely resolve the issue fairly quickly. Or you and someone can ask lots of questions to get to a dead battery answer (as in the case of the car).

What did you use to record the sound input? Did you use a external microphone?

Like I said, I used the mic input and a sound recorder or Roxio program and inputted another source (Galaxy tab and Zoom recorder.)

You could try running this program:

DPC Latency Checker

What would that do?

It will analyse Windows ability and the your drivers ability to play real-time audio, however, if could just be due to a poor quality recording in the first place.

I found the program within this thread:

http://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/198189-windows-7-choppy-sound-after-recording-synth.html

If I record live or off of youtube or any source the end result is the same.

I did run that program and it said my system should be able to record anything.

You might have better luck with Audacity (better mixing controls) for line-in recording and use Real Downloader for stuff off the net (it allows you to download videos and rip sound from them)
