Why does thIs water taste so good?

I just got on this thread and about a week ago you were discussing beer. I have always heard that the Germans drink beer with their food, even the children, is that true? == Also is French Toast really French?

I spent 3 years, US Army, in Darmstadt, Germany. Yes, they sure do like their Beer there. They have these hugh party tents set up all over the country once per year to celebrate Heidenfest. The childen join right in, too. Of course, the parents cut them off after one drink. To party with the German people was a pleasent life experience.

Well, what I term French toast is a thick slice of freshly-baked bread dipped liberally in raw egg yolks and whites that have been whisked in a bowl with milk, butter, salt and pepper, and then lightly fried both sides in a pan with butter, lard or cooking oil - whichever you prefer.

Eaten piping hot it makes a great snack.

I want some! I buy thick sliced egg bread. Batter is eggs, milk, vanilla extract. topped with powder sugar. Cook over medium low heat in butter. So, not to burn butter. Great with Jam, peanut butter, and Mrs. Butterworth syrup.
