I just stumbled across a file, CurrentDatabase_372.wmdb, under:

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player

I Googled it and found it's related to Windows Media Player, as the path suggests. It's small so the size doesn't bother me. But was does bother me is it was updated today! I haven't used Windows Media Player in months! (I use VLC)

So why is it being 'monitored'? Should I be concerned about it?

Mine is updated every day, too. I think it's just Media Player verifying or updating the music or thumbnail catalog. I don't think it's much to worry about.

Media Player and Windows Media Centre actively (and constantly, in my experience) look for content on your PC so that they can play it when needed. You can turn off the file association to the programs, but it doesn't seem to stop this behavior. It's pretty normal, but a waste of time and resources if you're using something like VLC. :)

OK, thanks Mellon Head. Yeah, it seems a waste...
