Why is Windows asking me which OS to boot to?

I only have one OS installed (Windows 64 bit) and all of a sudden out of the blue Windows 7 decides to prompt me after restarting or starting the computer which OS to boot to. The only selection is Windows 7 and Windows just hangs waiting for me to hit enter (for Windows 7).

run msconfig, go to the boot tab, then see what you have listed:

Now that I think about it, I had a machine doing the same thing. Like you, it started right out of the blue...

type msconfig in the start menu and go to the boot tab and set a little box the will either say 30 or 60 set that to zero

i figured it out, right click computer and hit properties and to the left go to advanced system settings, and on the advanced tab at the bottom it would say start up and recovery goto settings on start up and recovery and uncheck time to display list of OSes and put the 30 seconds to 0

Setting the delay to "0" only masks the problem, it doesn't fix it.

If I had a computer which thought there was a choice of which OS to boot to when I knew for a fact that there was only one OS installed, I would want to figure out what the problem was before I possibly ended up with no choice at all due to a messed up boot manager.

lol. and if you look at the image of the msconfig file, you will see that I had already tried setting to 0 and it didnt work. :sarc:

i ended up flashing my mobo's bios last night and windows wouldnt boot. i ended up doing the start-up repair any ways and now it's working. but, i do recall previously having done the start-up repair as this isn't the first time this has happened. i would hope this bug will be fixed in Windows 7 SP1 this winter.

If you were paying attention you'd have noticed that he already had the boot delay set to "0". It did not solve his problem.

As for vistabootpro, why not send Sammy the ten bucks it costs. Who knows, maybe he'll give it a shot...
