Why more than one monitor

Look I have just watched a Youtube on the ASUS GeForce GTX 660 DirectCU II 2GB OC as I am going to upgrade after my trip and during the video the fellow mentioned more than one monitor can be used. I did of course notice two x DVI sockets.

Now I am just an old fashioned well just old really and have no idea why one would need more than one monitor.

Could some kind soul please let me in on what the go is as I can only think of putting them together to create a panoramic view?? or for playing two games at once which sounds sort of cool to me but it is probably something else.

Like you said, it can create a panoramic view as long as that image is wide enough, and in gaming in can increase you FoV (Field of View) which could be helpful but could be confusing if you're not used to it.

Our Forum Admin z3r010 uses six monitors . It looks awesome . You can multitask and monitor more application and data is the primary reason other then that it gives you panoramic views and widescreen while playing games )

As mentioned, multiple monitors allow you to get a wider panoramic image which may result in better gameplay and immersion. On the productive side, multiple monitors give you more workspace for you to open more windows and programs in, allowing you to keep more data that you will or might need visible and in quick reach.

Some day traders would consider six monitors to be a bare minimum. Everyone has different needs. I'm struggling with only one 22" monitor because I often have multiple windows open and jumping from one to another is a royal pain in the...ah...neck. I really need at least one more monitor but it will have to wait until I can make room for it. Three would be ideal for me but, again, I will really have to jump through hoops to make room for them.

If you ever get into programming you'll soon see that one monitor simply isn't enough. To keep flicking between two pages to look at code examples or documentation etc. With two+ monitors you can spread everything out across them.

Hum well I think I shall never get to that stage I am just your average Joe two finger type Blow person. I can't get out of the training hut in Sniper Ghost Warrior LOL!! - into another screen in my dreams.

A dual monitor set is usefull as in the examples the others have stated, gaming etc. Also if you use your browser with tabs, instead of switching between them you can have two at once.

One display is enough for most people. Two displays are so nice for productivity work. Three displays are nice for hardcore gamers. Four and up are for people who monitor several important things, or heavily multitask or enjoy running simulations............in a nutshell. With the introduction of 27" monitors with 2560x1440(and 30" @ 2560x1600) resolutions, you can ultimately have enough real estate for two windows side-by-side for productivity work. Some people still find dual monitors better though. With the price drop of high quality monitors, it is much more common to see dual monitor setups.
