Why So Many Problems With Windows 7?

Focus on positives

That's because Rather than focus on the negatives of everything, I'd rather focus on the positive. Every device (computer, electronic, automotive, software, etc.) on this planet has some sort of negative, they're all man made. So why worry and focus on the negatives. Sometimes, it's not the device that is bad, it's the user.

Like I said, I worry about the positives, which there are more of than negative and I Love Windows 7. No issues yet that I can't repair.

Thanks for the props.

I know, I had to downgrade enough XP machines to more reliable proven operating systems at the time.

Most likely Windows 2000. There are threads at PC World Forums where die hard Windows 2000 users still prefer it for business and personal use. It is what they are comfortable with. I am happy for them.

Windows Seven Forums is a place for people to come when they experience a problem, much like sick people go to a doctor's office or clinic.

It is my hope that this thread will bring some balance to the negative words of angry frustrated computer users.

Happy surfing!
I agree....many forums are only full of the people with issues. I've been fortunate to have not had any major ones thus far. My uncle, who built this computer, troubleshot it for a bit before giving it to me, and he also pointed me in the direction of this forum, describing it as "a wealth of information".

I have read numerous posts from those who say they just "hate" the Windows 7 Library arrangement. While I grant them their right to their opinion, without ridicule, I find myself relying more and more on the positive features of the Library.
*snip for space*
Cheers!
Again, I agree. At first, I wasn't sure what to make of it, coming from XP to 7 Ultimate was quite an experience. Now, though, I have grown to like the Library feature a lot. I even created a new one for myself, the Wallpapers Library.:geek:

The downgrades were mostly to W2K but for some more conservative clients It had to be NT4, (SP4, I think, at the time ).

Never actually used Windows 9.x in an industrial client system - went from DOS to OS2, (warp), then to NT

Maybe the problem is that we are trying to use old software/hardware on a new OS and the compatibility is not 100% yet. I would expect that particularly with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 - I've just installed that on my newly built PC and I have only managed to get one game to install and run successfully so far (Bejeweled 2), everything else tried so far failed (installer hangs, or disappears, etc.)

The only good thing Windows 7 has done for me so far is enabled me to update my Motherboard's Bios version!

From the time I started using the beta which is some fourteen months I have had no major problems with it. Of course there have been problems as there is with every os but these have been minor and very easy to rectify. Many of the problems people encounter are of there own making but it is much easier to blame the operating system than to concede your not very good with computers.

I suppose a lot will be down to the configuration of the hardware being used and that is up to the manufacturer of the hardware to sort decent software that is up to the job, but I think in general it is a fantastic os and has been from the beginning.

To be quite frank(imo) it trounces both xp and vista already and they are several years and service packs ahead!

i have to say windows 7 has been an amazing experience for me, it's been stable, i've had no trouble with drivers or software compatibility. all of my hardware works as it should and has since day one with the only exception being a laptop that randomly decided to kick the bucket sending me searching for over a week on how to fix it when the solution was simple...trash it. i've also found that the wealth of knowledge on windows seven this early in the game is amazing there aren't many issues we haven't been able to find a solution to yet

This is exactly how I felt about Vista. Once the initial bugs were out and drivers were availible for 64bit vista I found no issues with it other then excessive memory usage and slow boot and shut down.

I find most people who bash Vista... have never even used it.

Similarily I find a lot of people who promote or demote Windows 7... have never even used it.

For the record XP was the same at launch (and ran horrible on my AMD 550Mhz at the time). However once I upgraded to an Athlon XP and a few updates came out... it quickly got better.

i have to say i was NEVER a fan of xp, it was a very hollow os, the first thing i always did was strip it down to the core components and create a custom user shell so that i could have the functionality i wanted. vista was a mixed bag for me, when it launched the biggest problem most users faced was that their hardware just wasn't capable of running it the way it was intended, by the end hardware had surpassed those initial limitations and it was pretty good. however i felt like they put to much effort into making it pretty and ignored things that would make it more useful. with windows 7 i've been pretty happy, i haven't felt the need to drop the default shell which is a huge thing for me. it does lack a few features i'd like but i'll eventually find a way to add those in or learn to do without. the UI is amazing, and well thought out, it's incredibly stable (for me at least, and that often takes a miracle) im just very pleased with the package as a whole.

I never had any of these issues with vista that were being reported, but again it's down to the hardware vendor to produce the software that works.

All 3 of the major operating systems in the past decade(by microsoft) have been good to me it's just that xp is past it's sell by date and vista had bad press from the outset. Seven without doubt is the way ahead..

I feel you have a valid point, although I had not considered it until you mentioned it.

If I may, one might take into account what it takes to market to the buying public. While those of us who are technically adept might appreciate a better performing OS, only one with lots of pretties, or bells and whistles would successfully market widely. Wouldn't you agree?

Cheers!
