Why would MSE start taking a long time to do a quick scan?

It used to take about 2 minutes to do an MSE Quick Scan. A few months ago it started to take about 6 minutes. Both scanned about 72000 files. Yesterday it took 15 minutes and only scanned 40000 files. I haven't changed anything (to my knowledge) since last week when I did a quick scan. I have Windows 7 - 64 bit. What could be going on?

Hi debodun,

I don't use MSE myself but I thought I would see if I could find an answer for you!

I found this thread which may be of some use to you => MS Security Essentials "Quick Scan" Takes Hours.

I hope this helps!
