Solved why would my benchmark go down after new driver install

Ok this is kinda wierd but doesn't make a differnce im not trying to break any kind of speed records recently i updated the system bios then updated my ati driver to 10.7 for some reason my beanchmarks wernt really high to begin with and i even have the card oc'ed that is another isssue

well to make a long story short after adding the 10.7 my benchmark score went even lower but my gpu ran cooler why is that when i see others benchmarks compared to mine I always have sucky one's but my system runs really fast anyway can someone explain to me why it would change my gpu to even benchmark slower and run cooler by 10.+degree's

First of all, you're strangling that 5770 by using Hybrid Crossfire with a 4200 IGP. Deactivate that, and your benchmark scores should improve dramatically.

I have the crossfire disabled you can't use a 5770 on hybrid crossfire it would have to be a lower card thats not the issue the hyvrid is a hd 4200 wont work that way

Sorry. Your system spec said your card was in Hybrid Crossfire. My mistake.

msi kombuster i asked for it on your other post to check my benchmark on the hd 5770 and it was hardly anywhere near your specs stuck in the lower 3464 range which i find very hard to belive

About the hybrid crossfire that is the option on my mainboard but once a active gpu is set it is turned off even went into bios and turned it off to make sure

I have no clue why it is bottle necked like this but yet i dont get lags and still good performance

i mean my benchmark was low already but this 10.7 brought it down even more i can go full screen reduced resolution still same result kinda annoying you know i would assume that if i got the same type of card it should atleast come close to some of these specs im not expecting it to do better but atleast come close I feel robbed right now also my gpu runs up to 81 degrees as in before it didnt get that hot before still within specs but there is something wrong here and with it being oc'ed i really can't understand why

Ok I dont feel so bad anymore i used a different benchmark program and my results were pretty good this is the benchmark i used and my scores

Drivers can dramatically change a benchmark result, which is just one of many reasons why you should never put too much stock in synthetic benchmarks. Instead, focus on how those drivers play your games.

I personally found the 10.7's to be slower, and not nearly as crisp and detailed as 10.6. Of course, neither of them was as fast as 10.5a, but I'll trade a little speed for extra sharp graphics any day.

@Fumz that is what i was wondering the whole time finally someone has told me something to go on I kept noticing every other benchmark i would do would be less and less and im oc'ed on the card as well so the driver innitially effects the gpu It still performs like it should no lags no hang ups but i was just wondering why my scores look so crappy when im supposedly built a decent rig

this other benchmark actually give me some love so i was also thinking could the benchmark program not compatible to what im running i mean everyone else uses it and gets great results so im just wondering

cause this one had a pretty decent grade but the memory speed is off i did the cmd winsat test my ram was 17494.96 kb

I noticed that you're oc'ing your card pretty high. That may actually have an adverse effect on your performance. I can't tell you the exact numbers (because that varies from card to card), but at some point (and I think it's generally a bit lower than what you're at), even though the card runs at a higher clock speed, its performance actually degrades. This is an ATI only phenomenon you should be on the look out for.

When you start going up, make sure that a benchmark (pick one, doesn't matter which) lets you know you're actually gaining performance. You're going to have to run the test several times at each step (because benchmark results also vary from test to test), but at some point, you will see that the overclock does not return the performance gain you expected, and then you back down to your last.

ok I reduced the clock speed to 900/1350 i will see if this give it a boost i found out it gave it a boost but lower fram rate when i took it to 925/1375 it was pretty much the same as me going 930/1400
