Hello,

I am having a problem in Windows 7 of the Wifi adapter turning off automatically after startup. The Wi-fi adapter is on and running right after startup, but turns off after about 30 seconds. It is possible to turn it on manually later on, but the fact that it disables after startup is very annoying.
It would be great if someone could give me pointers as to where I should search for the root of the problem. I am sorry if the information that I have provided is not sufficient, I will be happy to provide you with more specific information.

What kind of laptop is it? Some laptops come with additional software (garbage) for connecting to wireless networks or managing your adapter somehow. I would look here first at uninstalling this software if it exists. You could also open your device manager and right click on your wireless adapter in that list (under network adapters) and see if there are any power options you can change that may help with this. These are my best ideas, it could also be a driver issue.

It might not be an issue of the pre-loaded software because this problem did not happen before when the software was present. I will definitely try the device manager suggestion. Thank You.
My laptop is Samsung Series 3 NP300E5A model. It does have an Easy Settings software pre-installed that includes a Wi-fi on/off toggle.
I now recall that this problem might have started since I dual-booted Windows with Ubunutu. Do you think such a problem could arise from that? If yes, what areas should I look into again?

Can you roll back the driver or do a restore point in windows to a point that predates the issues you are having?

Can dual booting affect your hardware across operating systems? That's a good question, one better left for someone else. I want to say it shouldn't unless your are modifying the firmware for your wireless card somehow which I'm assuming you aren't. Try a restore point and see what happens.
