OS is up to date. Downloaded virus definition file yesterday.

Have checked system for virus / malware and comes back OK.
Today I've had:
1) Multiple mouse clicks when I clicked only once.
Cleaned optical mouse (dust near optical).
2) Noticed my font size has changed both for Firefox and MessageBox for some
programs I've written.

Yesterday notices that when I was about to logon a web site that a received
a old analog TV type image (the one with the circle and 4 triangles)
I ignored it and was able to logon.

Anyone else experiencing wierd things happening.

Weird stuff is always happening to me. I do one or both of these and it always gets fixed. I call it the r2(r-squared) method.

Thought I'd pass on what I think was (hopefully not is) causing a lot of wierd occurrances.
Select Start Button > Type "Mouse" in Search Box > Select "Change Mouse Click Settings".
For the double click slider, I was misinterpreting the settings (rational).
I had double click set at 5, reasoning that a slower doubleclick would be recognized easier.
However what this did was cause the system to sometimes interpret a single click as a double click.
By moving the slider to 10, it appears to increase the timing interpretation between a single and double click
such that -- for my clicking -- are now better interpreted by Windows 7.

yes, it is also weird how a clik adjustment produced a font and video anomaly.

MourningStar:
If one thinks about it, if a click is misinterpreted the wrong thing (object) can be activated or modified.

Still having issues. Maybe try new mouse as quite old.
As another example I needed to do a search and replace of a lot of code (several hundred occurances)..
In this case I needed to Find every other line of interest and replace what was there.
A lot of times it worked, but a number of times it would skip over the correct line to replace
and then replace the first (the wrong one).

Only two things I can think of is either the left mouse button hangs at times and this is interpreted
as a second clink -- or -- a pointer is messed up in the search replace program.

When I log on now, I get a popup that says I have an adblocker enabled and am asked to "disable" or "continue without disabling". Is this NORMAL ?

A faulty keyboard can also cause a mouse to act erradicly. Try both a known good keyboard and mouse.

Saw a number of comments about mouse issues -- double clicks when single wanted -- especially related Windows 10.
Here's Microsoft Mouse Test Link -- as always with M$ can't be simple.
Mouse Test

I tried one program on the net to test my mouse, appeared to function as designed.
Still having problems with anything Windows 7 related.
Switched mouse buttons so right click is left click and vice versa.

Seemed to improve usage, but awkward for me.
As mouse old, may be related to usage. Here's a interesting link for possible mechanical correction.

Thanks for input.
Don't know what keyboard has to do with mice.

Totally different APIs and Messages.

-------------------------------

Hopefully got this resolved.
-------------------------------

During POST I show two mice even though I have only 1.
My MS Wheel Mouse connects directly to USB.
Why the other mouse shows up is ????.
I have a PS2 adapter that accepts both a keyboard connector (which I'm using) and a mouse connector (which is empty).
Why the OS interprets an empty mouse connector as having a mouse is ??
In Control Panel > Devices > Mice, I show a HID Compliant Mouse and the USB Wheel Mouse.
Disabling the USB Wheel Mouse makes the mouse unusable.

However, disabling the HID Compliant Mouse seems to correct the problem.
It (HID Compliant Mouse) is also NOT reinstalled when system is rebooted
even though it still shows up under post.

Mouse action seems much better -- however, jury still out for the next couple days.

Also attaching the source code for a possible fix -- i didn't write -- for this issue.
Haven't looked at code so use at your own risk. Looks like will need C++ to compile it.

Update:
Mouse improved based on action taken above but still has -- what I considered - click issues.

Mouse seems to be back to normal - but a bit slower click response.

This is what I did:
1) Move both my mouse and keyboard to USB 2.0 ports from USB 3.0.
Per BIOS docs for my system (ASUS H97 Plus) both mouse and keyboard CANNOT be on USB 3.0
until Windows is installed. I moved them to USB 3.0 after install. I have now moved them back to
USB 2.0 which seems to have resolved this issue or at least improved it.

2) Went into device manager and disabled the HID Compliant entries for the empty mouse connector in:
a) Control Panel > Devices > Mice
b) Control Panel > Devices > Human Interface Devices

-------------- Additional Comments ------------------
1) Since my keyboard is PS2, I attempted to use the PS2 ports on my MOBO.
Could never get them to work. Further research of BIOS docs shows PS2
toggling under Boot Menu > Fast Boot. However Fast Boot cannot be Enabled
unless system is UEFI and has a GPT primary HD partition. In checking windows
the registry ( HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt) is missing the
DWORD (Start = 1). While I show the PS2 driver (i8042prt.sys) in
System32\Drivers the i8042prt entry is missing from Services.

Why PS2 is NOT allowed to be enabled in the BIOS for other than UEFI is ?????

2) A lot of web posts on this click issue. Some have swapped mice with no resolution. Others
have tried a mechanical solution of disabling the mouse and adjusting the click spring.
Whether that resolved the issue is unknown. IMHO, I believe this click problem is related
to USB and some Update that affected how USB functions on particular MOBOs.

It is my understanding USB is multiplexed. Hence "potential" for conflict or misinterpretations.

3) This site provides a test for mouse clicks.
Browser Mouse Event Test Page

Mine tested fine with USB 3.0. Following the links in the text provides a good comparative
analysis of mice click problems -- but sadly -- related only to different web browsers.
Whether webbrowers have ID the specific cause of this problem and written code to
compensate is unknown. My click issues are Non-webbrowser related and show up
with older software as well as Windows (7) explorer.

The man who wrote the article did an EXCELLENT job, but is now deceased.
