1. I have a few questions, I want to transfer my computer to a new case and I'm curious to know if it will void my windows 7 oem activation?

2. Can I format my computer and re-install windows 7, is there a limit of how many times or how long I have to wait?

3. If I sell my computer can I transfer windows 7 to someone else?

1. I think only motherboard is locked by oem. Just case has no relation to software so no problem there.

2. I dont think there is limit how many times you can reinstall windows but you will need to reactivate it.. if there was some hardware changes you may need to use phone activation.

3. I am not sure about this one but i think OEM license goes where PC goes. so when you sell pc you sell windows with it.

Changing the case has no affect on activation or validation.

If you have an OEM version of Windows, it is tied to your motherboard and cannot be moved to another motherboard.

If you format your hard drive and re-install your OEM version of Windows, it will activate automatically.

If you have a retail version of Windows it can be transferred to another computer providing you have removed it from the original computer. Depending on how many times you have installed Windows, you may have to activate it by telephone.

If you sell the computer, the OEM version of Windows goes with it. If you have the retail version of Windows on the computer you are selling, you need to de-activate it first.

Thanks for the reply's, I wouldn't have to call or anything to transfer my oem version to someone else would I. It's not registered under my name on there servers just the Activation code? so I wouldn't have to worry about my information going to someone else?

As I explained, the OEM version remains with the computer, so there is no need to transfer activation should you sell or give the computer to someone else.

You should have no worries on the personal information score, as none is transmitted or used during activation or validation.
