I'm going to be taking all the drives out of my current PC and putting them into a new system who's parts (motherboard, PSU, CPU, RAM, video card, fan) arrived next Tuesday. But the new case doesn't arrive until Friday. So is there any problem with putting the parts together on my desktop and running them outside the case?

Actually, it's a good idea to test them before installing them in the case. I would run them only briefly to avoid any possible overheating problems but other than that, no problem. This video will show you how to do so.
