will this cause any problem

Hi, I am someone with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and this is driving me crazy. I have been rechecking again and again so I thought it will be better if I ask someone instead.

My friend who doesn't connect his laptop to the internet untill there is any Microsoft updates and he doesn't use it to suff the net either.

He Lent me to use for afew days and I enter the windows firewall and network sharing setting by accident, I don't know whether I have change any setting. I ended up checking again and again I don't want to cause problem for him.

So I was wondering for a laptop that occasionally connect to the internet and doesn't suff the net will changing the setting cause any problem?

Hi there .. You have no need to worry .. You can go in to Windows Firewall and click on Restore Defaults .. Its on the left hand side column..

Erm thats actually the problem I don't want to go there any more if not I will end up clicking restore again and again thats why I am asking.

so will it cause any problem if the setting for the firewall and network sharing change? I don't want to check it again and again its driving me nuts I can't control it.

Short answer no it shouldn't. What setting(s) exactly did you change? If you're really really worried about it just do a system restore (before you return it) to the closest point before you changed things. I wonder why someone with OCD would change a computer that did not belong to them?

If you haven't done a system restore before. Just click on the start button and type system restore in the search box. Follow the prompts. Otherwise as Maxie says there should be no problems and we're always here to help.

The thing is not that I change anything but I don't know whether I have or not, I enter the control panel setting for both by accident.

I have check and recheck to ensure that the setting haven't been change but it like not registering so I end up checking again and again.

I heard system restore is not good for anti virus so I didn't did it

Then go into Safe mode and do the system restore from there. Your a/v is disabled in safe mode!

If you only entered the Firewall setting, nothing has been changed. Everything is OK.

Did you ever click save, change or edit in any of the screens you are concerned with?

If you just closed them then no changes were made.

If so just tell your the owner of the computer. Stuff happens and they will know best what the settings were.

If your friend knows you well enough to loan you the computer. Just ask your friend when he/she picks up the computer to do a restore point back before the day they loaned the computer to you.
Explain your concerns to your friend.

though this is off topic but does anyone know any ways to temporarily help with this OCD problem?

Medication and therapy takes time so I am wondering if anyone knows of any ways that can help temporarily.

Oh yea OCD is definitely something that needs meds and or medical assistance etc most likely
