Will upgrading the ram on my windows 7 64-bit computer help?

Im am replacing the two 1 gig 667MHz cards with two 2 gig 800mhz cards. Just wondering if this is will speed my computer up. Will i be able to notice the difference after the upgrade?

Yes it will. just make sure they are purchased together and are in one package. Ram is finicky.

It wont "speed up" your computer but it will lessen the things that need to be sent to the really slow page file.

You might be able to measure a difference but I'd be willing to bet you won't be able to notice any improvement.

Adding faster RAM will not lessen the need to use the page file. How much RAM you have vs how much you are putting to use will determine whether Windows needs to use the page file. When your memory requirements exceed the amount of physical RAM in the machine then the page file is used.

As mentioned, it won't really speed things up, but you will notice that the system is more responsive because of the extra memory. Some of it will be used by Superfetch and the Prefetching system, and things will feel a little snappier.

Memory is always the best upgrade, IMHO, for adding a bit of a boost to your system, and it's one of the best bangs for the buck.

There's a chance that you will have to set a memory divider manually to get the RAM to run at 800 MHz. I doubt that you'd notice a 1.2X frequency except in benchmarks.

2GB was probably enough to run Win7, although my notebook PC with that amount of RAM is running the 32 bit version.
