Hi, asked this question before a couple years ago and I'm back again because it worked out well

I am hoping for some good ideas and if anyone happens to know of any deals that would be great to haha


on the market for a replacement pc for a family member. They do not game, they only browse the net and watch Hulu, Netflix, flash content etc...

They only request the screen size not be smaller than 15 inches. Budget around $300 with tax and shipping with some wiggle room. It can be a notebook or a desktop but monitor must be included. Would consider building the PC if that is the only way to go.

I am currently taking a look at Lenovo's refurbished line as well as their scratch and dent line but im not that impressed and figured i would have found better deals.

question:

Do you think a Core 2 Duo is the way to go price wise? My PC is Core2 Duo and im more than happy with it and I game.

I think going with a newer gen Core I3/I5 would be better since repairs would be easier with newer hardware in case it breaks.

But pricewise, Core 2 Duo is better. FYI, I have seen old Pentium 4 computers stream vids like it is nothing. You may want to go with a Pentium or even a Celeron if you want it to be extremely cheap.

they are all from Lenovos outlet store and are classified as scratch and dent. They are warrantied the same as new and refurbished models for 1 year. I feel pretty safe buying scratch and dent from a big company like this and feel there is no reason to think this will fail. I mean if it lasts a year why wouldn't it last longer under normal circumstances? Happy to get some feedback thanks.

I still recommend option 3 simply because it has a bigger Hard Drive and a slightly better CPU and its also cheaper
