Hey,

today i called to local computer shop and asked about new win 7, and seems there are separate versions, thats strange, because month or two ago when i was searching info about Win7 seems that install disk should let to choose which bit system i want.

So lets say if i buy 32bit system after couple of years if i want to upgrade my pc with more ram and to install 64bit i have to buy another win7 licence?

No.. you will be able to use the same key to activate your 64bit disc... keep in mind though you cant use the same key for both versions running at the same time..... only one installation at a time per key...

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
Each win7 box comes with two discs, one of 32-bit and one for 64-bit.

Unless what he is being quoted is for an OEM version, which many "local" computer shops are selling instead of the full retail package. The OEM version is 32 or 64 only.

Ahh.. you didnt mention that ... then it is entirely up to the supplier of the disc whether they will supply you with the 64bit version....

You should be able to order the 64 bit from MS for small fee. $12-$15.

I think you may have seen the "System Builder " ( confusingly also called OEM ) discs.

I believe they only have one bit version in the box.

The key you get with it will work with either bit version - you just have to get hold of the installation media.

The Retail versions will have both dvd's - but are ( usually ) more expensive than the System Builder oem versions.

I say usually because the introductory offers around now mean Retail version might be cheaper at the moment.

So it's worth looking into that.

but if the company only gives 32bit disk, so how should i get 64bit disk, download warez or buy ?
