win 7 64 bit freezes when watching video in explorer, firefox, or chro

Can not find the post I started earlier today, so guess i'll start again

Start to watch videos on web sites and after a bit, 30-60 seconds, the computer freezes and just a buzz from the speakers. Nothing works except the reset button.
when the computer restarts it shows the windows was shut down improperly
how do you want to restart, normal, safe mode, safe mode with networking


i downloaded Shark007's Windows 7 codecs as WMP codecs
and use VLC media player as another player

no help over in the video section

Possible Solution

I had the same problem. Oddly, I did not have the problem when I connected my netbook to an external monitor. So, when I want to watch a movie directly on my netbook, I lower the resolution, to 800x600. So far so good.

This could be various things.

Some of the most common things that can cause this are.

1. Outdated Video Drivers
2. Virus
3. Overheating CPU or GPU
4. Corrupted File(s)
5. Outdated Flash Player


There is a lot more issues, which is why we ask for the information we do, so we can narrow down the list.

2. Virus none found
3. Overheating CPU or GPU temps are monitored and none are overheating
4. Corrupted File(s) Did a complete wipe and reload of windows only to find same problem
5. Outdated Flash Player updated with out any change

Have you updated your Sound Drivers as well?

As far as the file upload, I am at work and do not have the ability of opening some of them until I get home. I stay at work all week, and get to head home on the weekends, unfortunately this week I am stuck here until the end of the month.

Also I assume this is a desktop with integrated graphics, have you tried an add-on card to see if that helps?

Also, since you are sharing with system RAM, I would check in your BIOS to see if there is a setting to limit that, sometimes there is. (Limit the amount of System RAM that is used to VRAM).

If it is an add-on card, BIOS won't have settings for it.

What brand did you get? I know it is Nvidia, but who is the manufacturer of it? PNY, MCI, Evga, etc...

I found EVGA on the card

There was a updated driver for the sound card at the gigabyte support page.
I updated and will see if it freezes

yes i did that.
I formatted the harddrive and started over
I figured it would fix it however I was wrong
