I have Win 7x64 with a Nvidia GeForce 6150 video card, I have also tried a ATI Redoen HD 4350 and they both do the same thing. When watching any online video the PC will freeze up and have to shut down and reboot. The pc has 3gb of memory. This does it with nothing else running also. All videos play fine on the computer itself it's only when online. Also I have a D-Link DWA-542 RangeBooster Wireless adapter. Internet speed is Upload 5.80mbps Download 6.65mbps Thank You for any help you can offer.

On the offchance: install Pale Moon (similar to Firefox), go to Preferences > Advanced tab > General sub-tab > uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration when available" and try that.

Also: did you install any codecs, codec packs or video watching programs recently?

I don't remember hearing (reading) what browser was being used. ???

I don't stream videos very often, but when I do, I never have my PC shut down on me.

I have a home made PC, running an NVIDEA 210 vid card, 6 GB of ram, an SSD, etc.
And even though its all on a tight budget, it still runs like a scalded cat! ;)

One thing to always consider, is the CPU and GPU. Both get a real workout doing streaming video.
Just as a matter of course, I minimize what I have running at any one time, on my PC.
I also have a PSU that is probably 100% overkill for my PC. You don't want to run out of power while streaming videos.

If you've already swapped out video cards, that pretty well takes the GPU out of the mix. So the problem goes back to the CPU, Ram, and cpu cooling. (heatsink and fan)

I would pull and clean the ram, then pull the CPU and really CLEAN the heatsink (I use soap & water and a brush, on the heatsink, not the fan.) and replace the heatsink grease.

What I'm suggesting here, is nothing but the same maintenance that I give my own PC at least once a year. No new parts, just a lot of TLC!

Good Luck,
TechnoMage

Hi Woody,

3gb is the recommended min for w7 X64, can you check
Control Panel > System, whats >>the available<<< RAM ---your mb supports 16gb
Its likely maxing out, and possibly overheating..

have you overclocked, if so revert back to default

My motherboard only supports 4gb of ram, not sure where you came up with my make and model of it but it is a Dell ORY206 MainBoard and, as far as I know it can't be overclocked. The available Ram is 3gb. Also I have done what TechnoMage2016 and BrainDamage has suggested and still the same.
Thank You for your response

When going to Control panel/System it says nothing about the available Ram, all it has is, Installed Memory (RAM) 3GB. I think I might have found the issue though. When you asked about overclocking I went into the bios to make sure that was not the problem. While I was in there I found a setting for video ram with options for 64mb 128mb 256 mb, it was set at 64 so I changed it to 256 and so far it seems to be ok now. Do you think this could have been the problem all along?
Thank You again for all the help from everyone.
