Thanks so much Night Hawk, it's really been a rough two days.

Melanie is still so distraught, I didn't sleep last night and apparently she didn't either.
Jazzy ALWAYS slept slept with Melanie so I knew last night would be bad.

I'm going to tackle this tomorrow, need to read/learn about backing up the registry
before I go in making a change.

Do you know if I can just backup that one key, the MuiCache ??

MuiCache has both the gud.exe and the dwx.exe in in ....
along with looks like all my other program .exe's ...

I know I can right-click the gud string and the dwx string (separately)and have the option to delete ..
I just don't know if that'll mess anything else up and want to be careful.

The gud.exe and dwx string values are the only two you want to see removed without knowing of any other specific values that need to be removed.

Once you hightlight either one of the two you go upto the regeditor's menu bar and open up the Edit dropdown to then select "delete". That one value is then gone forever! Once both are deleted restart the system after closing the Regeditor and anything else you have open to put the change into effect.

If you no longer see any indication of an infection the last step will be using another program like VIPRE to sweep the system of anything left over! Apparently what you have on now simply doesn't find and remove this stuff for you! VIPRE wsa highly recommended to me back in 2010 and so far has proven itself over and over again. This is why I would make the recommend to consider it over what you have been working with.

The loss of a pet to a kis can be devastating! I lost a favorite from an eye infection and know the feeling. I can understand you being a little sleepless as well. Perhaps you may want to wait a bit and then see what a local animal shelter has as a new pet and friend? Many pups are abandoned! even of the same breed of dog.
