Win 7 complete upgrade from preinsalled vista

Hi i have done a complete upgrade to windows 7 from a preinstalled vista. The vista came with my laptop and it had a recovery backup drive on my hard drive.

I did create recovery disks but i dont think they are working correctley as when i put them in on a boot up it says windows is loading files but stops halfs way.

So my question is, if i ever need or want tto go back to my preinstalled vista could i and how would i perform this step.

I still have my recovery partition and i have not messed with that.

But i cannot see my recovery partition in windows 7 but i know its there as the memory is not availble.

Go to Disk Management, it should show up there. It probably was not assigned a drive letter for safety reasons.

You should be able to get the recovery to work by setting the recovery drive to be the active drive using a partition management program, preferebly one that boots from CD directly.

If it is a major concern to you, you may want to investigate this with the manufacturer of your system, (most have forums), now, before you have a fail situation

I went into disk managment and it was there, it doesent bother me to much i would just like to know if i need to i can use that partition to go back to my preinstalled version?

And is there anyway of backing it up?

If you have some form of external drive you should be able to back up the complete partition to it, or you may be able to back up to a number of DVDs although this is not possible using native Windows tools and you would have to invest in a 3rd party application, when I say invest It may only be time as there are some adequate packages available for free a search of the forums should find several

well ill give it a go with a backup, not sure if it would work but i have a 4gb psp memory card and not sure if i would be able to boot from that.
