Win 7 Home install Problem

I also put in an old Hard drive with visa on it..vista loaded restarted it to check and it says the same thing

What does this mean? How would anyone know what you're trying to say? If Vista actually runs after it loads then install CrystalDiskInfo - Software to read the HD SMART data.'

Then run the HD diagnostics from Windows.

If Vista won't start, reset the BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Then try booting the disks: How to Boot A Computer from CD or DVD - YouTube
Sorry i'm rushing alittle I think,

I meant to say:
my sony vaio's original hard drive was a toshiba and it had win 7 and it was saying no operating sytem..when I run the partition wizard it goes to the screen were it says select resolution and keeps telling me not found.

I was getting frustrated so for the hell of it I took a hrad drive from an old gateway computer and when it loads its a Hatachi hard drive with vista on it, says gateway when loading and all... after it loads fully I have no way to access anything. I hook up my internet cable and nothing..some goes for allot of the drivers.
I downloaded the hatachi diag disk to run to see if it would reconize the hard drive and of course it didnt see any of it. Its a driffrent hard drive so i didnt know if it would seeit or not.

Maybe now you can help alittle.

The vista hasa key that expires in 9 days..could I use the old one from my other laptop? cantI get diffrent drivers?

Ok..i might be digging myself deeper here or actually getting somewhere ...

My older hatachi hard drive had vista on it..i need win 7 home so what I done was when i had my win 7 iso inserted and it came to the install screen i hit shift f10? i think...done a diskpart basically doing everything from scratch..repartitioned and all as i was instructed in the beginning of this long thread.

I was able to start installing but now it cant find any drivers to continue. Im using the win 7 iso (x17) latest i think,
It wants to install but now it cant because theirs no drivers...

help?

If I still have the recover disk made from geek squad..1-3..shouldn't that have my drivers?
If so then I cant loacate them

The issue is never drivers but a bad installer. Burn another for your licensed version using ImgBurn at 4x speed.

Win7 is driver-complete in installer and after running all Important and Optional Updates. Put your wireless or Ethernet driver on a stick or in your backup so you can install it if not provided to get online to do all Updates. Then report back any drivers missing in Device Manager, or find them on your PC or the device's SUpport Downloads webpage.

Once you get that done I'd install Crystal Info from link to check HD SMART condition.

Question...Im clueless on this...

I'm burning this to a thumb drive for one so whith that being said. If I go to the site at the beginning of this thread and burn another iso and put it on my thumb drive (it would be the same one of course) it could correct this problem im having?

OMG...

I'm really starting to think this just isnt gonna happen...
I['ve burned countless thumb drives, tried diffrent iso's. I'[ve even used windows down load tool...power iso and they all seem to work untill I click start install then it pops up saying:

A required cd/dvd drive device is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk,cd, dvd or usb flash drive please insert it now. NOTE: if windows installation media is in the cd/dvd drive, you can safely remove it for this step.

How can it be missing? I can remove the thumb drive and insert a cd in the drive(recovery disk i have) and it reads it ok so the dang thing works.

Any more help/suggestions?

I noticed the option to browse for the drivers..so i looked and see my c drive so i thought i would browse that but when i click it it says it needs to be formated so i try that but then it tells me:

Cant format C
Check to see that the disk and drive are connected properly, make sure that the disk is not read only and then try again.

Try burning a DVD from ISO using ImgBurn at 4x speed.

Try writing the ISO to stick using UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive
which always works for me when others don't.

If both of these fail then you may need to supply the SATA/IDE controller drivers at the Load Drivers link. SATA Driver - Load in Windows 7 or Vista Setup

UPDATE:
Not sure what happened here. I was working on what you said Greg but nothing was working
I got to the point of frustration beyond belief and finally went to the very beginng of this thread and just start all over instead of jumping around.
I was thinking i might of done something out of order or simply screwed up. I started with diskparting and all then I seen somewere about F8 for advanced bootup after doing that rescuecare started and itlooks as if its working fine...right now its installing PMB Vaio Edition Guide so hopefully it works out..will update again soon.
thx again for everything
