Hope permently is just short for permanently. Then you are surely talking about icon view size. in windows 7 , the default view is list view; and if you change it to anything, it stays there upto any system settings changes. As and when you remove your CD\DVD from the drive, The setting you changed does not stay there. So for the next time, you get the list view again.

Hello Wullthebull,

Only temporarily with removable devices like a CD/DVD. Once you remove it, you lose your settings. Windows 7 and Vista will not retain the folder view settings for removable devices. Sorry. :(

Actually there is not a much more basic difference between xp and 7. Both are created with MS Dos, and 7 is a technologically advanced version. XP, I partially agree that it was a bit easy to use, but a readily vulnerable to threats . 7 provides much more secured environment than xp.

If you just think about the GUI, 7 is pretty cool compared with xp. Its build is much more robust, and moreover, it is easily customizable , too; if you tweak it properly. Try to accept the advancement , brother ! XP makes us nostalgic, I agree.

If you really dont want to be deprived from xp, you may have it side by side of 7, either as dual boot, or as a virtual machine. In this forum you may have a wide range of guidance about both the fields; in Installation & Setup - Windows 7 Forums and Virtualization - Windows 7 Forums respectively.

But in this forum, it would not be a trouble, trust me. In Installation & Setup forum you can see the experiences of others, and how they have got their issue fixed.

We value your association, mate.
