Win 7 Pro Install

As above how do I install the pro version (from the 7600.16385.090713-1255_x64fre_cliente_en-us_Retail_UltimateE) so I can just activate it when my copy comes, Probably been asked before but I can't find the posts for it.

I think you need to edit the ei.cfg file on the iso. copy to HD, edit and re-burn.

Can't remember the exact posts but you can google on ei.config or search the forum.

You just remove ei.cfg from the iso prior to burning so it can then give you the choice of which to install.

Me too!! Roll on next Saturday.. and thanks guys I'm trying deleting the ei.cfg file before burning to disk also done one on a pen stick too!!

YOU STILL NEED A LEGIT KEY TO ACTIVATE.

I've already done an iso (from _Ultimate) with 'Professional' in the ei.cfg and put it in MS VPC 2007.

Works... 30 days worth...

hehe .. I'll need to do anther clean install with the real Disc. My current version is on an older 120GB IDE drive. I'll be getting four 1GB 1066 sticks and a WD 1TB HDD when my Pro disc arrives.

Its not going to be shipped with IE installed. Youl have a ballot screen which various browsers to choose from.

Anything could happen, but my understanding is that IE *will* be installed with Windows 7 and that the ballot screen will either be part of the install or even possibly turn up later as an update. But Microsoft has now said that the EU will get the same version as the rest of the world.

You didn't answer the folder question...

If the WD 1TB HDD is USB or firewire, be advised that Win 7 will -NOT- install there.

Something sure as hill doesn't jive in my simple mind:

1. If EU gets a ballot screen, then its not the same as the "rest of the world", ATPIT, AFAIK.

2. If the "rest of the world" has IE, then they must also be getting a ballot screen.

Either they are all the same, or they are not...

(Unless it's Microsoft "Doublespeak" again.)

In vista this was true...not anymore. One of the biggest confusing things about 7 is the fact that is your disc is Home Premium it will instll Home Premium...except all editions are actually on the disc. They did this to combat all the phone calls they got from users buying Vista Home Premium and accidentally thinking that they could activate another edition (like Ultimate) with that product key...Some people have complained about this but a complaint shouldn't be made due to the fact that you should only be installing the edition for your product key...not any other
