Ok, I found and deleted alot of temp files 2 days ago, windows\temp and appdata\local\temp.

I have made many restore points for 7 and have given the program ample room to do so. Now I only see 3 restore points (all MS) and none show when "show more restore points" is checked. Obviously, i would hope, the restore points are stored in temp dir and were deleted?? I have no suspect of any virus or anything weird, as of yet... :sarc:

where are the restore points stored at? XP it was system_volume_info, hidden. I went thru this article explaining restore, and my situation did not apply to any of the supposed reasons. Never turned restore off, plenty of space, no disk cleanup, just my manually deleting the temp files i spoke of.
System Restore "restore points" are missing or deleted

Hi,

You can see how many shadow copies you have by using an elevated command prompt like this

C:\Windows\system32>vssadmin list shadows |more

Then press Enter.

Device Manager lists shadow volumes (darker grey ) and allocated space (lighter grey)

Hope it helps

Well I'll be (a hoover) dam.... Nice info SIW!.... something i had absolutely no idea about till now. Knew of shadow copies, but not about or where.

Thanks alot, i will use this info and try to figure out just why all my restore points got deleted after a MS hotfix kb962236.. (MCE update i believe if memory is right). Still a whopper of a problem if this keeps happening.
