My Win 7 has had issues with installing updates recently. I'm interested in reinstalling the system or upgrading to Win 8. I originally downloaded Win 7 rather than getting the box. I may have a disc that I made when I first installed, but if I reinstall from that I will not have most of the current updates.

How to proceed?

albanberg, unless you made a back up to apply a reinstall would not have the updates. I would post in Installation and set up and explain the update errors you had as they may be resolvable. Describe and give the errors you recieved. Also update your specs using the link in my sig

If you reinstall from the disk you made in the past you will have to reinstall all the updates since that time. A better approach is to get the SP1 version which includes most updates here:

Windows 7 Direct Download Links

Note that you will have to use the Product Activation Code from your current system to activate the new one, so be sure to get that before you reinstall.
