when it dose i click close page windows and start button all nothing works then

As well as Kool Kat instruction have a look under the machinefor the PART NO is it most important for the info we can get from he Toshibasite - see my pic
and see this
Using HW Info
You can test the volts on the PSU with HWInfo HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 -Download < download the right bit version andclose the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power sectionwhere you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.
The original right hand window shows themachine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use themain left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
Open each + down into the componentitself and then click on it - in theright hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds andother essential info that device. See pic for example.

Hmm that is the start of the PART NO Joseph as I get this up for that model Equium L40-17M - Toshiba if you look it is a few extra digits and is like I mentioned before important because to expand on what I said previously it pertains to where the machine was either manufactured and what region it was manufactured for so it does make a difference in getting info and drivers for that particular model.
As you can see from the site the machine is now reasonably old and I am assuming here that it came with Vista and you have updated it. If not let us know because if you installed Windows 7 as a retail or OEM edition then it might mean going back and reinstalling the OS because maybe the disk you have was or is corrupt - it depends on where you got it from.
Now if you have a valid activation code then this is the best thing you can do to get the machine absolutely set up clean. I would personally wipe the drive and do the reinstall. But see this first http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 - you will need to check out what bit version of whatever Windows you have that machine supports too as from the site info it looks like it might support 64bit Windows.

thanks ICit2lol for telling me this but i always wipe this laptop clean and lad the new windows 7 64bit windows i got from ebay.i also bought a bran new wd 500g hdd black one for this laptop so cant be that im not sure what is wrong and causing this.when wiping it i get rid of internet explorer and put on google chrome and firefox then load free avast then put on all the addblockers then set up my pages thats it
Not wanting to sound too pessimistic Joseph but Ebay is one place I would not buy any version of Windows from. If you want to make sure the edition you bought is genuine then a quick phone call to Microsoft will make sure it is genuine.
Sorry mate but so many people including my own brother have bought Windows from an Ebay seller only to find it is not a genuine copy. Now I am not saying the seller in your instance has sold you a suspect version but it is a distinct possibility unless you know the seller well enough to trust what has been sold to you.
There are many other places like well established stores that sell Windows at less than what Microsoft will charge - I mean sites such as Amazon etc and personally it is how I buy mine - my usual computer parts supplier.
But to reiterate a quick call to Microsoft would eliminate or verify whether the copy is genuine.

thanks icit2lol well seems to be working ok though no problems i put in key and all and its working great.it wasent overly that cheap either and i made sure the guy had great feedback also
any ideas what i should do fo find out why this laptop is freezing at times i tried msinfo32.exe into my starter page and system information came up.i just freshly put on windows again as i think i downloaded a virus.dont worry i wipe the hdd totally
That is ok then Joseph actually my brother lives in Wiltshire and it was while I was over there he had that problem but if you are happy with it then that's fine. But if you ever want to verify stuff like that Microsoft are pretty good.
Now I am wondering just where you are typing that msinfo.exe it should be in the box that opens when you hit the start button - it used to be called run in XP and usually includes 32 in the result. Sorry I am on my 8 laptop at the moment so cannot send a pic. But see this How to use System Information (MSINFO32) command-line tool switches

cool i was on the right page looked like i was expecting something else here is the image.tbh icit2lol i hate win 8 my friends wife has it and i was trying to delete some crapware she had on her laptop as is was slowing it down mad and well seemed a wild nightmare to use that app screen drive me nuts lol and hard to get into comp files 2 lol
Ok mate now there is a way of attaching the readout so that we can open out the different "sections" but at the moment I have to dash out but will be back. If you look in the BSOD posting instructions in the BSOD section you might find how to do it there.
By the way I run 8 in 7 style with Classic Shell Classic Shell - Start menu and other Windows enhancements it is free and really quite good and the thing is 8 is slightly faster on my laptop. See my pic of the screen I have.
So yor friends wife can just download it and run and this is the result slightly different names for the control panel items but much better than that panel set up.

Greg I have an idea it might have been originally Vista as it is a little older machine (if you see the post where I ref's the model on the Toshiba site) - I could be wrong and I did think the edition of 7 coming from an Ebay site might have been a tad non kosher but Joseph says it is.
I also recommended what you posted as I did also think maybe the disk the OS is on maybe damaged or corrupted in some way and the ISO form your tutorial would be better to try than keep on using the Ebay disk.

Yeah I checked the specs John and it was Vista. But I also sure wouldn't buy Win7 off eBay. Let's hope its activation holds up. So many bootleg Win7's were sold on eBay that PayPal covers them for full refund within a certain period of time.
Test the hardware, establish a Clean Boot, utiltize the System Resources, check for overheating and the other Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 which will often uncover the problem and familiarize you much more with your system and how to handle it best.
Compare the install you did to the perfect install compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7.
Now may be the time to get it right if you didn't before.
Sorry late reply Joseph mate try what Greg has suggested and lets see what goes from there. As you can see Greg also has reservations about Windows (as indeed a lot of members do) bought from Ebay mate and I still think using that tutorial that he wrote and use the ISO with the activation code you have will show up if the original version you bought is kosher. I know I sound a bit pedantic but I don't want to see you go around the houses looking for a fix that isn't going to work.
I'll look for that other upload stuff I the meantime.
